This is day three after the lap band surgery. It has been a long hard road, and still the road has just begun. I seem to cry alot lately, I can't figure out why. My back hurts the most, with only the surgery area when I lay down. Today I lost three pound. I have a terrible headache today to. I seem to be doing fine, overall. The surgery took 1.5 hours, with an overnight stay in the hospital. I will see the doctor in 2 weeks. We took pictures and measurements before the surgery of my weight, and I will have to get my computer whiz son to help post them on the web. I so glad that the surgery is over. dancingbears

You are going to be emotional for about a week or so . At least that is what happened to me. I didn't just have the lapband surgery I also had the gastric bypass. Your body takes to the pain medication and any other med. you took while in the hospital . You are also starting to realize that you did something very dramatic to your body and all these emotions are starting to come out . But, don't fall into a cycle of poor me...everyday do something that will make you feel good . I walk everyday outside or at the mall, proving that I am okay...I am walking and moving ! Your back is going to hurt for awhile, if you find yourself lying down a lot. My back hurt a lot for the first week and half or so. But, I am now almost three weeks out and my back feels fine! Good luck with everything lady and don't let your emotions get the best of you!

It's normal to post-op. Even when I was feeling great and full of energy in the hospital, I had one moment where I broke out into tears for NO REASON. I was laughing to my mom while crying asking why am I crying? I feel fine? She just said that I went through major surgery so it's normal for our emotions to go up and down to . As for the headaches, drink more water. That will help. Your body could be dehydrated. Glad your surgery went well and you are on the losing side! Congrats!!

Dear Judy, My back pain was awful for the first week or so. My doctor said it was due to being flat on my back for so long during surgery. I think they do that to take our mind off of pain elsewhere! It helped me to put some pillows under my knees when lying down. I got an awful headache three days after sugery. It was terrible! I had to take a few migraine tablets. It didn't seem to work as well as it should. I never thought of it until I read an earlier post - it was probably dehydration! I wasn't drinking much. Glad the surgery is over, too! Debbie

Hang in there and you will do fine! I am nearly 4 weeks out and I still get weepy a little. I had gastric By-pass on March 9 and for the first couple of weeks, I was really weepy. But I have gotten better! My backside, actually my butt, hurt lots also, because I never really sat looking back at things before surgery. After surgery it hurt me to sit for long periods. I am an x-ray tech and am really involved with my sorority and couple of different philanthropies, but never realized how busy I was. That was a big adjustment for me!! Take care and hang in there! Lynn
