Problems getting in Protein Shakes

Hi everyone, I'm two weeks out and I am having a real problem drinking the protein shakes. The ones that I tried have made my stomach hurt really bad and sometimes I will get dry heaves even smelling a protein shake. I'm not sure what to do at this point to get my protein in. I am trying to eat high protein foods, i.e. chili, fish, beans, but I know that since I cannot eat that much that I am not getting in enough. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions to help me get in my protein including products to try? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Delicia

I had a hard time finding a protein shake that I could stand also. I finally settled on the Atkins Advantage shakes. I drink the vanilla ones and they taste ok to me. I never had trouble with my stomach, I just couldn't stand the taste of the others I have tried. Perhaps you are drinking them too fast? Chris S.

Delicia, I use the Aria protein powder for women, in the health section at Walmart. I use the chocolate in sugar free vanilla pudding, which makes it just 'chocolatey' enough. I use the vanilla sprinkled on other foods. How at two weeks are you able to try all those foods yet? I was told to watch the fat and sugar, and only soft foods for three weeks. Hope this helps.

Hi Delicia, I tried several protein shakes/drinks and could not find any that I liked. The thought of one even today makes me want to gag! For me, it was probably a matter of the consistency as well as the taste. My solution has been to use AnyWhey Protein powder. It is virtually tasteless and I put it in everything...soup, cottage cheese, applesauce, fruit smoothies, etc. I purchased at GNC. Good Luck, Gail

I would also suggest a plain protein powder and add it to any and everything you eat or also try buying skim milk powder from your grocery store. It's very cheap and adds a lot of extra protein to your meals. I add it to cream soups, carnation instant breakfast, etc. Hope you find something! Stacey

Try Isopure. It's a fruit-flavored kool-aid tasting type protein drink made from whey. It's HIGH in protein. You can find it in the refrigerated section of any health food store. It is refreshing, easy to drink and lasts a couple days for me. It looks like Kool-aid but is sugar free, and super high in protein! Hope this helps!

Hi all. I can recommend the only protein powder I've ever tried that I don't want to gag on. It's called unjury from unjury.com. It has a very thin consistency (like swiss miss chocolate) and it actually tastes good. Now must blend in a teensy bit of banana and ice and you are ready to go. They have a vanilla (excellent) and an unflavored that you can mix into anything. Good luck
