I have never bought Italian Ice before here at home, but since I had some in the hospital this month I've been addicted to it! They are in your grocer's frozen section in with the ice cream. I buy mine at Super Walmart. I've bought a few kinds post-op, but I LOVE the Philly Swirl brand because in a box comes 6 different flavors - cotton candy, rainbow, hurricane, paradise punch, etc. I love it!! It's a tad high in sugar, but my body has not reacted, probably because I NEED the calories - 92 calories for 1/2 cup. If you are new post op, you'll probably eat 1/4 cup of it so it's 48 calories. You can also get the Philly Swirl sticks that are like popsicles and those are 48 calories.

Hi Tricia, almost 2 weeks p/o here and same thing. Asked hubby to pick me up some and he got me Luigis Italian Ice has 2 flavors Lemon and Strawberry. Well I can live without the lemon but omg the Strawberry is devine. Really helps when my mouth is feeling all dry and blah. Definately going to have to try those phillyswirl ones the flavors sound oh so yummy

Are we allowed to have the sugar? I'm two weeks post op and I'm still on soft foods. All I eat is sugar free pudding with protein powder and drink all day. I've tried twice to eat a scrambled egg and both times I feel like I'm dying, okay, maybe not that bad but I feel like it's stuck and I'm miserable for about half an hour. Do you think I can't tolerate eggs?

As far as the eggs go, just eat a scrambled egg white. My hospital specifically said to not eat the yolk, just the white. Try that and see what happens. Still has protein, but not the fat of the yolk that could be causing your problem. Hope this helps.
