Magnesium Citrate ...?
Advice?
I'm to drink this the day before surgery ... saline laxative ... oh goody. The instructions say "take *around* noon-time".
Problem: I also have to travel 2.5 hours to St. Louis the same day in order to be at hospital for surgery next day at 5:00 a.m. Daughter who is driving me there can't get off work til ... yep ... you got it ... noon.
I know everyone's body reacts differently, but, for obvious reasons, it would REALLY help to know a ball-park on how fast this product takes effect and how long it stays in effect so we can figure out the best travel time for me.
Anyone?

I had to take (yuck) phoso soda day before surgery and they said to take it around 1-3pm sometime. I took it around 3pm, it kicked in 45 mins later and I was "done" in the bathroom by about 7pm. You can take it later than they suggest, just make sure you do it at least 4 hours before you go to bed otherwise you'll be up all through the night (or have accidents in bed in your sleep). This is the one thing I HATED pre-op. Ugh!! You'll get through it though.
Just make sure you don't take it to late in the day. I have surgery tomorrow, so I took it at 1:00 p.m. It didn't kick in for three hours for me and five hours later, still going, but slowing. Anyway, everyone is different and there is really no way to know what will happen with you. But if I was traveling that day I'd get the trip over with first, because I figure it's better to be up late close to a potty than to go home in a stinky car. Good luck,
