I stole choc from my daughter's Easter basket!
Well, I asked her first...heh heh. My surgery is on Wednesday and today is the last day that I can eat anything I want....so I ate a little chocolate bunny. I'm thinking that chocolate is going to be what I'll miss the most...yes, I'm a damn chocoholic.
Otherwise, I'm very calm and anticipatory. I'm not looking forward to evacuating my bowels...ugh...but that too will pass. Sorry for the pun. I've stocked up on the clear liquids and many of the foods that I'll be eating for the next few months. Everything is ready...and my mind is ready. I was a little worried about the morbidity factor, but I've decided that it's not gonna happen to me. Besides, the chance of dying a slower death from being morbidly obese is much greater than the small chance that I will have bad complications. Plus, my surgeon hasn't had a mortality in over 400 patients. I refuse to be his 1st.
So...next time I write, I'll be on the losing side! Good luck everyone else with your stuff.
I'm a chocolholic too, but for some reason, post-op I don't crave it like I did before. Weird. I thought Easter would be hard for me with all the candy, but I could care less about it. I think post-op your mind will change a bit too. And it's not like you can never have chocolate ever again. You can - just in small quantities. But not the first few weeks post-op that's for sure!
There's a chance of death in ANY surgery - even a tonsilectomy! So don't fear anything. They do thousands of these surgeries a year. You are going to do great and do great things in your lifetime!! Get ready for the best year of your life!
Hi David!
I am just under 2 weeks po and am a chocoholic myself. Never really thought I was but these last 2 weeks I have been craving chocolate like crazy. I am moving on to phase II of my diet and protein shakes are allowed so guess whos having a chocolate shake for lunch LOL. Good Luck may your surgery be uneventful and may you have a speedy recovery!
Hi David! My date is 3/30 also! I can hardly wait! Tomorrow is all liquids and then the Milk of Magnesia. Oh boy, won't that be fun. At least I'm glad it's only 3 Tbsps. After having an upper GI and a CT scan on my stomach, I had to drink alot of barium. I figure this can't be any worse. Good look with your surgery, and I'll look for you on-line afterwards on the LOSING side. Good luck and lets me BIG losers! FYI - I'm having an RNY. Take Care. Sue
