No weight loss

Good morning.....I had my surgery on March 8, I've lost about 20 pounds so far, but the problem is that I lost that 20 pounds in the first 10 days, now I've stalled out. I have not lost any weight in the past 5 or 6 days. I'm sticking to the soft diet, probably eating less than I could eat. I'm eating a few bites here and there, still doing my protein shakes, no sugar, no caffiene, I don't understand why I'm not losing any weight. I'm so discouraged. Is it possible that I'm not eating enough? Any similar experiences out there??

I'm with you Karen! I lost 27 pounds the first week, 42 now overall , but none in the last 3 or 4 days. I don't see how it is possible that a 440lb man can hit a plateau! I am eating soups, cottage cheese, sugar free pudding and last night I pureed a chicken breast. Eating the chicken paste was not the highlight of my life I thought it would be! I've even been exercising everyday. One thing I have decided is not to weigh myself except once a week at the most. It is hard enough fighting the mental battle without the discouragement of not losing the weight. I am sure our bodies have just lost a lot of weight and are taking a breather before losing again. It has to be a shock to the system to lose such a high percentage of our bodyweight in such a short time. I find it hard to be patient though, when I have soooo much to lose, a couple pounds a week is going to take FOREVER. We'll get through this slow period, but it is frustrating! Chris S.

Hey Chris.....Thanks for your reply and congratulations on your success. I'm going to take your advice as well as the advice from others who have answered my post, I'm not going to weigh myself everyday, once a week is fine. I think it's hard NOT to weigh in everyday because we are so anxious for results, and if you are like me, I want results and I want it NOW !!! Today I decided to eat a little more, so I went to Wendy's for lunch and had a small order of chili for lunch. It was so wonderful that I went to the store and bought the stuff to make chili at home, then had a cup of that for dinner. Very funny comment about the plateau, put a big smile on my face !! Let me know how you are doing, ok? Karen

You're fine, throw the scales out, or take the battery out of it! Walk, walk, walk. Watch the 'salt' if you are using a lot of canned foods. In 5 more days you can check your weight again and you'll have lost for sure. Relax.

Thanks for your reply.... I'm going to take your advice and not obsess about the scale so much and just concentrate on keeping on track. I'm just so anxious for results and not very patient about it I suppose......Good luck with your loss.....Karen

Same exact thing happened to me. I lost 23 lbs the first 10 days and then NOTHING for 5 days and the dropped 6 more pounds. Dr. said our bodies can do this - kind of go into shock wondering what is going on - then will lose again. Don't rely on the scale to measure your success. Measure yourself. Weigh WEEKLY not daily, becuase this will happen again. Everyone on here has told me that. So don't be discouraged. Keep on doing what you are doing, scale will move - just don't get on it daily. That's helped me.

Hi Trisha.....Thanks for your response. I have to say that I see you post on here a lot, I read your posts and pay attention, they help me alot. It makes me feel soooo much better that it's common to go through periods of not losing anything.....but I'm going to concentrate on sticking to the program and Lord knows, I've been on enough diets in my life, I should know that the weight will come off sooner or later. Thanks again, Karen
