Can't Sleep-5 more days to go

I have 5 more days to go before my surgery. I am tired but I can't seem to sleep! I am not taking a nap during the day but I just can't seem to sleep at night. Is this normal? Has anyone else had this problem??

I didn't have any problems sleeping before my surgery but I think it is normal to have problems. After all this is a big deal you are going through! Just do your best to relax and the sleep will come...if not before then after surgery! Joan

My date is the same as yours, Melinda. I am surprisingly at ease with my decision and I'm sleeping easily at night so far. After doing all the research, deciding to have WSL, jumping thru all the pretest and approval hoops, getting all the supplies together, and so on.....I find myself very comfortable with my decision. I don't think I would be if I wasn't absolutely sure that this is what I need to do. I have a feeling that I may not be able to sleep the last night or so before surgery...but I think that will be because of excitement! Good luck to you...cu on the losing side!

David; thanks for writing back. I have had more surgeries than I can shake a stick at but it still kinda bothers me especially with be put under. They are also going to put in a stint with a net to catch any blood clots. I had knee replacement surgery 9/2003 so if I can survive that one I guess I can tackel anything. Different things causes insomina in us at times. Ask your doctor for an rx for Ambien. It's a great sleeping pill and you wake up refreshed and it is non-addictive. Sweet dreams!
