8 Days and counting

Well I must say I am feeling so much better after my last posting when I was scared to death. After so many kind people made me understand that everything should be fine and the Dr.s doing my surgery do 5 of them per week so they are well practiced with doing them. MY Doc said most of his patients leave the afternoon of the second day but because I am a man he said probably not till day 3 and maybe the morning of day 4. I am having a proximal lap RNY with Dr. lauter in Kirkland , WA and I hear the hospital is great with private rooms set up for bariatric patients and the nurses there know the special needs of the patients. To all you c-pap people remember to bring your machines as the hospital will supply them for a charge (of course) so it is better to use your own.To all of you scared about the surgery just think about all of the positve changes that will happen in your life. I am looking forward to being able to be seated on a plane an not crush my fellow passengers. Or go on an amusement park ride, or buy cloths off the rack or just to go for a long hike with some friends. I also look forward to having relations with my spouse again who is 117lbs and put on the brakes after I hit the 350lb mark. She is just scared to death I am going to crush her and I do not blame her for feeling this way. She deserves a happy healthy husband and I deserve a happy health long life with her. I will pray for everyone who is having this surgery and look forward to all the messages from my fellow WLS brothers and sisters. Joel d.

Congrats on your surgery date. I had my surgery a little over 2 weeks ago and got the "this is not a bill" statement from the hospital the other day. $31K total for 2 day stay - and they charged for EVERYTHING - it was an itemized list and I'm like - they charged for THAT??? So I agree, bring your meds, cpap machine and other stuff to hospital. They charge you for every little thing. Granted insurance pays for it, not us, but still!! You are going to do great after surgery. Yay! Men tend to lose faster so April is going to be an AWESOME month for you!
