Pre-ops

I have pre-ops tomorrow, which I am dreading. I have to be at the hospital for tests at 11:00 a.m. and I'm can't eat or drink anything 12 hrs before. The not eating till then isn't what bothers me. I can't stand the thought of not drinking for that long. I'm looking forward to surgery, well not so much the surgery as the after. I'm not really as nervous as I thought I would be, but then again I still have 5 days. post later, Billie

Actually, I thought the same thing before I had pre-ops, but you are so busy getting tested on one thing then the other, you forget. In fact, when I was done with my tests, I went down to see the RN to go over surgery, questions, etc. and she was gone from her desk at the time so the clerk said I could go grab a bite to eat now or drink since testing is done. I'm like, oh yeah, I forgot I haven't eaten or drank all day and it was around 2pm-3pm sometime. Amazing! I think the adrenoline from the excitement takes away from the hunger/thirst. Pre-ops are nothing! Everyone roots you on and is so sweet to ya! I loved my pre-op day! LOL Weird, huh?
