Down 25 lbs in 2 weeks!
I had my surgery on 3/8 and am already down 25 lbs! I feel great! I'm in no pain or stress and I never feel hungry. I'm using fitday.com to track what I eat and it's great to see the graphs of what I'm eating, calories burned and the downward line graph on my weight chart. Yay!
The only thing I'm struggling with is going to sleep at night. I have all this energy and I am not tired at night. I finally take sleeping pills to help me go to sleep and I sleep fine and am fine the entire next day. Since surgery my sleep schedule has been out of whack.
I have my post-op appt with Dr. Fang on Thursday. I'll mention this to him and see what we can do. Other than that, I feel great!!
I've experiemented with different protein shakes and mixes. I'm just ready to CHEW something salty and meaty! LOL Less than a week to go for liquids and I can start pureed/soft food phase! Can't wait!
Congratulations to you.....I am 6days post-op and down 11 pds. I hope I can lose 25 in 2 weeks??? Can you tell me what weight you started at and age?? I am 51 yrs old. I am also having the no sleeping going on I have only been able to sleep 3 hours a night....I am mentally exhausted. I go for my 1st appointment on wed. and I need to get some kinda pills to sleep. I'm 6'0 and in the 300's so much taller and heavier than you. 11 lbs in 6 days is AWESOME!! So don't compare your weight loss to others. The same day I posted I lost 25 lbs in 2 weeks, someone posted they had lost 25 lbs in ONE week and they weighed in the 200's and i was like what??? But I had to remind myself not to compare. We are all differnet bodies and systems.
Ask for AMBIEN at your dr's appointment. That's a GREAT sleeping pill! And you wake up refreshed the next morning.
Keep up the good work!
Hey Trisha......I also had my surgery on March 8. I'm down about 20 pounds so far. Congratulations on your loss. I haven't been having problems sleeping, but I have been very hungry. I have had no pain, no complications, no problems, in fact if I didn't know better I would think I didn't even have any surgery. I went to the doctor after one week and was down 14 pounds. It sounds like your doctor wants you on liquids longer than my doctor does, I've been on soft food for about a week. I've been eating cheese, pudding, eggs, pureed meats, etc. I even had a pancake the other night and did fine with that. Nothing that I have eaten has caused me any problems at all. Let us know how you are doing......Karen
I had lap RNY on 3/14 and am down 15 lbs. I'm been eating saltine crackers and cream soups and soft foods since the Saturday after surgery. I started on scrambled egg the Monday after surgery. My doctor likes for you to do cheeses, eggs, etc. to get your protein instead of just shakes. Absolutely nothing has made me nauseated yet. I wonder sometimes if my surgery was done! Tonight for supper I had 4 oz Cream of Brocoli soup with grated cheese. Delicious. I'm losing so I guess I'm doing okay. I've never had that "too full" feeling. Is that normal?
Hi Kathy, You are doing great, and you sound a lot like me. As I said, I had my surgery on March 8, and I've been on soft foods since 1 week post op. I have had no problems with any food I've tried, and have had no nausea at all. I'm also wondering if my surgery was even done !! Today I had a lunch meeting and had a cup of chili while everyone else was eating sandwiches, no problems, for dinner I met some friends from work, had the inside part of 1 potato skin and some cheese off the top of the nachos, no problems with any of that. I've lost about 20 pounds so far, but I haven't lost anything in the past day or two. I was thinking about calling my doctor, because I have not experienced that "stuffed" feeling like some describe on here. I never have felt stuffed........ and like you, I'm wondering if that's normal??? Karen
