Newbie here...Just got my date
Hi
I'm very impressed with this website....lots of good stuff here.
I got my date (March 30th) a few days ago, and I'm already getting freaked out. UGH! But I know I'll go thru with it and be a lot healthier in the longrun.
What concerns me the most about having an RNY is the challenge of becoming a dietician/nutritionist for myself and counting calories, planning meals, creating eating routines...doing all that stuff I could never do for the first 50 years of my life....I'm not good at it, and I guess I'll have to get good at it. I'm gonna need a lot of help. I love cooking, I love eating...dammit. I know that someday I'll be able to eat a lovely prime rib dinner with all the trimmings, so I'll keep that thought in my mind.
I just quit smoking a year ago on March 25th, and I gained about 25 pounds. It was then that I decided to start the ball rolling to have WLS. But then I was diagnosed with diabetes and peridontal disease-UGH!! Finally got those things under control and now my surgery is almost here. So there it is...and hopefully my WLS is the last challenge of my becoming 50yo/mid-life crisis.
Thanks for listening
HI there! Well, we will be surgery buddies as I am having my RNY on 3/30.05 also. I too am 50 yrs old. and my birthday was March 1st. I decided this was the best birthday gift I could give myself. I'm so looking forward to LOSING and keeping it off. I love this site and all the support it offers. Hang in, and remember to take it one day at a time. I'll check in with you later to see how you're doing.
Take care, Sue
