To all Marchers who have had their surgeries...
Hi there Angela!
Mine was on the 2nd and I feel better than ever. I've lost 30 lbs in two weeks. Before surgery I was in a 4-5x shirt and this morning I fit into a 2x IZOD buttoned shirt! This surgery is absolutely amazing. The first week was HELL because you are broken of your food addiction. Just hang in there that first week. I believe that they should keep you in a hospital somewhere just as if you were in heroine detox as for me it was that bad. Every day gets a little better until soon those 'little betters' accumulate and then you feel great!
I had no pain to speak of after the surgery but just a bit of soreness. Of course I had lap and can't speak of the open but I hear it can be much more painful.
Angela, just take a deep breath relax. It will be a smooth, smooth ride.
Hi Angela-I had Rny lap on 3/1/05 and have been home for about 2weeks. I am doing great and have had no pain at all in about 1week. I did have a little after surgery, but only for a few days and it got lesser everyday. Even though the pain went away, I can still feel the stiffness on my left side sometimes especially when I move or bend a certain way. It takes about a week before you can even feel like you might can bend at the waist, so it's much easier if you have someone to help you during that time to pick stuff up or help you dress, shower, use the bathroom, etc. I was lucky my mom took care of me. She took me out shopping everyday after I got home just to get some walking in in an interesting environment. I must have lost somewhere between 20-30lbs by now, but do not have a scale at home just waiting to visit my surgeons office again on friday to verify. I can see my tummy shrinking and my face is getting such definition I can see my cheekbones and jawline so easily now that my double chin is practically gone. I wish I had taken measurements before surgery, because I have to have lost several inches all around. I have some trouble getting all the fluids we need each day because it's hard to drink a lot if all you can do is sip everything. I'm doing just fine, but I do get tired quite easily. I probably won't be ready for work for another 3 weeks, so I hope you are able to take off sufficient time to heal after surgery. Anyway, if you want to know how my surgery went you can look at my profile. Hope all this helps. You made a good decision, and I can't wait till you are on the "lite" side experiencing the joy of losing like I am.
