I was wondering if any post ops have had any complications. I am having a horrible time with an infection and have been back in the hospital for IV antibiotics. I need to talk with someone who is also having complications simply for some moral support or someone who's been there. I'm regretting this surgery right now pretty bad and am not sure if its the stage of post op or if its just due to everything I've been thru. Any prayers appreciated! Thanks AMy

Hi, I'm still pre-op but I had a baby in September by c-section and got a nasty infection. It was really painful! I went back into the hospital and was on I.V drips for a week. It got better..just took some time and rest. It will get better, just hang in there. From what I've read on this website you won't regret it in the future. Sorry that what I said doesn't exactly pertain to the same surgery, but since no-one else had answered I thought it might help a bit! My prayers are with you!

Hi Amy, I had my WLS on March 7th - one week ago. And, I am miserable, too! The first few days in the hospital were fine. I guess the pain started once all the IV pain medication stopped. I'm taking pain meds now, but it's very hard to get them down. It seems like as soon as I'm done with one pill, then I have to drink some water, or eat something. It's non-stop. Then, when I want to take a nap, it sounds great! But, I know I will be in pain when I wake up. I came down with Thrush when I was 5 days post-op, due to the heavy antibiotics. It's a condition that makes your tongue feel odd - it's covered in a white film. So, this hurts, and makes eating and drinking even harder. In addition to all the WLS meds and vitamins, now I have two more meds for the Thrush. I'm really regretting it, too! I saw my surgeon at the ER yesterday and told him that I wanted my guts back! He laughed and said I would be fine soon. I'm hoping so. I'm looking forward to the day when I can be one of the people saying, "It was the best thing I ever did," because right now, it wasn't! Keep me posted! Debbie
