IS IT REALLY WORTH IT?
Hey Jackie, just in case you forgot...yes it is worth it. Nothing is easy in this life, and I am sure you had your depressions before surgery that seemed just as difficult as what you are dealing with now. I am 13days post-op and I feel great despite the fact that I have only been able to drink clear liquids and eat broth for the 2days before 3/1/05 my surgery date and since then also. I am getting ready to graduate to the "mush" you are talking about with soft foods next on my menu and am ecstatic about it. I can certainly understand you're feeling awful if you are still puking everyday, but I am very concerned that there may be a physical problem which could be best answered by your surgeon. Also you may have to look at what you are eating, do you choose good organic foods or bad things that you ate before surgery? According to all my friends who have had this surgery, and I know about 7 friends where I work who did, they can eat what they want in moderation and they have to chew chew chew until it is a pureed consistancy before they swallow. Also, what's so bad about being cute and going on a date (who said it had to be dinner)? Is that something that you dreaded when you weighed 130lb more than you do now? My point is you have to try to keep everything in perspective so it doesn't get you down when it doesn't have to. You have to look for the positive and accept it not focus on the negatives. I hope that helps you see things a little differently because from a new post-op's point of view I will be glad when I can say I lost 130lbs and gained my health and mobility back. I have lost 20+ lbs so far and feel like I made the best decision for my new life.
