Hello-I am sorry that I don't have much in the way of help for this stuff. I have United Healthcare and according to my surgeon's office they are the best insurance for getting approval. I went for my 1st consultation on Feb 4, 2005 and got approval from my insurance by Feb 11, 2005. According to what the office advised us, United Healthcare just makes sure your BMI is over 40 and if you are at least 80 lbs overweight it is pretty much automatically approved. I have awesome insurance, and I feel very lucky. I was able to get all the pre-op work done in the 2 weeks after approval and had my lap RNY procedure on March 1, 2005. I have been home now for 6days after 2days in the hospital and no major problems so far. So maybe I just should say stick to it, and you will get there. When we were in the initial consultation, they were comparing insurances and said it can sometimes take a few tries but they can usually get an approval and once that comes in they are fast at scheduling the surgery. Good luck!
