New here... have a date...

Hi... I've looked at this site for two years, and have heard about it in support groups, but have never joined until now... I have a surgery date of 3/31, and am pretty much ready to go. My husband is VERY supportive, and is helping me get everything in "order" for both pre-op and post... I have friends who are supportive, as is the rest of my family. However, not many who know what I'm going through... I'm feeling very anxious about the whole process, and am looking for a unique support group. Thanks! Andrea

Welcome Andrea! I think you may have found your "unique" support group! We are all in the same boat here. My surgery is a week from tomorrow and I am gatting anxious. I wake up every few hours. Although I am still trying to corner my husband to find out exactly what he needs me to do before hand! I can just picture him the night before surgry freaking out about who is going to take care of the kids while he works. heehehe, I may make him sweat a little! Good luck! Kristey

Hi Andrea My date is 2 days before yours. I 've been undecided about this surgery for about 2 years. I finally made the decision that I can't lose weight on my own. I'm always at the doctors office complaining about a new ailment...after many test they can find nothing wrong. Then I'm told it's just that you are carrying around too much weight. WLS will be the tool that I need to get healthy and get my life back. As a heavy person there are so many things that we can't do. At least I couldn't. When I found this site it was a godsend. The people are extremely supportive and I have gain so much knowledge and information. Everyone here has been where you are. I am not completely comfortable with having surgery but I believe it will save my life and pro long it. You are not alone in this journey. We are here for you. P. Hunter

Congrats Andrea on your decision to do something totally selfless. You are going to go through a journey that will make you a new person and you've come to a wonderful support group. The folks on here are the bestest in the whole wide world. Any questions you have just give somebody a holler, more than a few will come to your rescue, even if its just to "hold" your hand so your nerves will calm down. Welcome and God bless you.
