Hello, I'm a fairly young man (age 28) and I'm having the surgery on 3/23. I'm 5'10" and weigh a touch over 300 lbs. I have a decent amount of muscle mass and I'm curious if anyone out there has a similiar body type and how they did after the surgery. Did they have a lot of problems with sagging skin or did their age help with that more than an older person. Also, how long does it take to get back up to speed lifting weights? Thanks, KV

Hi Kevin, I am in the same boat as you, 5'11", 331LBS with lean bodymass at 210lbs. Im a bit older than you (35). I think at one point or another I will have to have at least a tummy tuck. Then again everyone is different. I will be having my surgery on 3/2! later

Your fitness (and age) will definitely work in your advantage. It will be important to exercise as much and as soon as your doctor will let you in order to avoid losing muscle mass. Best of luck to you! Joy

Kevin, I had my surgery on 3/1/2004, and was weight 498 pounds and was 6'2. I was a college football player and had a buff, muscular build at 245 pounds. Less then one year later, I'm at 265. I work out five days a week and have taken up runnning. My muscle mass show through but I do have some hanging skin issues. Everybody is different, but just listen to your Dr., excercise and take in your fluids. Best of luck to you, this will change your life it you let it.
