First off congrats to all us marchers! whooo hooo. ok, now down to business. proteing drinks. what are ya all going to drink for your protein post op? i have heard of many different things, knowing that what we like now, may not be what we like post op. I am getting my bag for the hospital ready also. (i still have a month and im such a procrastinator most of the time) I know for sure im taking all the essentials plus chap stick, and a comfy pair of slippers that i can walk the halls in. other than that i have no clue. ya know ive been researching this for a lonnnnnnnnng time, and now my mind is a blank. lol. not a good thing since my surgeon requires us to do a MAJOR test (bookwork one) and i have looked over it and i know the answers but my mind is a blank. too much overload im sure. anywhooooooooooo im sure once i get sat down and really think of things it will all come to me. i just wanted to see what you guys are all taking "extra" to the hospital and the protein drinks that you have heard of that may be good for afterwards. thanks! jerri

Hi Jerri, Im like you, I have been researching this for 3 years and had alot of bumps along the way, and nnow that its here..... I am scared and very concerned about the protein/water requirements post op.... SOOOO what I did was went to bariatriceating.com (not advertising here) and ordered there sample pack and am going to give it a whirl and hopefully postop my tastebuds wont change all that much... I am also scheduled for a nutrition class March 8th and have LOTS of questions. I havent even begun to think about what to take and what not too.... I am definately not as prepared as I thought I would be when it became crunch time.... Best of luck to you I will be thinking of you

Hi Jerri, I am 1 month post op and have been drinking High Protein Ensure. It comes in 2 chocolate flavors, vanilla and berry. They are delicious and have about 13-14 grams of protein in each little bottle. They also have about 230 calories so you can do one as a meal. I drink one before I go to bed so my little tummy won't be so queasy in the morning. I've lost 39 pounds in 1 month and drink about 2-3 a day. I also eat yogurt alot. Best of luck to you with your surgery - I would also take your own bathrobe to walk around too (the air conditioned gowns leave little covered!!). Sandra Christiansen Everett, WA
