Help: Upper stomach pain

I had RNY March 2005 with a loss of 190 pounds. I am loving my new lease on life, but over the last month I have had increasing upper back/stomach pain. I thought it was due to a pulled muscle. But it is worse after I have gone to bed. I wake up shortly after going to sleep with gas-like spasms every night. I lie on one side or the other. The pain is worse on the left. Gallbladder is on the right? It does not seem to matter if I have eaten or not. Sometimes it hurts when my stomach is empty. Anything sound familiar to anyone?

I have pain through my upper back and stomach too. Sometimes really hurts when I go from sitting or laying and standing. No gas like problems but have wondered if it is not RNY indigestion. D

Did you find out what was wrong? I hope not an ulcer. Last evening I had major pain and burning in my stomach. Finally went away so did not go to the ER. Took a couple Tums. This is my first problem with indigestion--if it was that.

 Wow.  I just came back to OH after three years and am still having stomach pain.  I had my gall bladder removed last June.  That did not help.  Gerd has been suggested, but symptoms are not in my throat or chest, just my stomach.  I am on Omeprazole which I take every other day as needed.  I just have flare-ups.  This is not an every day all year long thing, but is very uncomfortable when it does occur.    I just retired and have new insurance.  I plan on figuring this out in 2011.
