You know, I was just thinking about that. I was looking at this woman's sandwich at work and thinking I have GOT to prepare my meals. Every last one. Lately I haven't been doing that. Not even dinner. Money has been soooo tight. Ive been down to change and scrounging like a buck for soup at lunch which isn't so bad. But i really need to plan my meals again. I have been too lax about it. Like today. I have NO idea what i'm going to make for dinner. I got to get it together. I want to make that yummy healthy veggie soup from the veggie soup diet. I dont care for the diet but I happen to LOVE the soup. heres the recepie:

  • 1 or 2 cans of stewed tomatoes
  • 3 plus large green onions
  • 1 large can of beef broth (no fat)
  • 1 pkg. Lipton Soup mix (chicken noodle)
  • 1 bunch of celery
  • 2 cans green beans
  • 2 lbs. Carrots
  • 2 Green Peppers
  • Season with salt, pepper curry, parsley, if desired, or bouillon, hot or Worcestershire sauce. Cut veggies in small to medium pieces. Cover with water. Boil fast for 10 minutes. Reduce to simmer and continue to coo****il veggies are tender.

The curry seasoning is a must in my book   you can eat as much as you want of this soup... doesnt make you gain. Obviously. But it has a great taste. I think. and its good for you too!
OH if you do eat it for lunch and dinner... it uh.... cleans you out a bit.   haha...

Topic: Doctor appt followup....
Hi...went to my doctor appt this morning....bad news vit. D level 16.9 WAYYY LOW...and my iron like I thought was not high but LOW too....I have been faithfully taking more then double, some 3 times the dose for my vitamins but they are still showing up dangeriously low....Doctor put my on 50,000K of VitD plus has me taking additional 2 times the amount of Iron and 2 times the amount of calcium citrate with VitD...so this is why Ive been feeling like crap with acheing muscles....Guys I cannot stress enough get your blood work taken. I thought I was an ideal patient but this surgery  does put a major strain on our systems...better to catch it quickly  before the major damage is done. I hope like hell I can get my levels up  to at least a 70 on the D....I go back in Mid Dec for followup blood work, will let you all know then if anything is better...I sure hope so.

We had a really nice time...had some rocky seas but it was fun.  The important thing is that I found it very easy to eat healthy.  Protein filled breakfast, nice salad bar for lunch and also very good sugar free desserts.  I did eat a little more than usual, however did not gain (yay!)

what's doing around here?

((( Reenie )))

I'm much more of a lurker than a poster these days and haven't even been doing an adeqate job of lurking, so maybe tonight I can find some time to catch up on the posts.

We made one of those overnight trips to CT this past weekend (leave early Sat a.m. and drive up and hit the road for home early afternoon on Sunday) to see my parents.   Mom was 89 on October 1 and I've not seen her since possibly last December.   I am so over the guilt my sister tries to heap on me for not visiting more often, but I felt a need to be there this past weekend.   I have a wonderful picture that Mr Mo took of me with Mom and I'll try to get it posted on my profile tonght to share.   Mom has Alzheimers, so while she still 'knows' me she doesn't know a whole lot else and it's hard to have a conversation.   She knows she is confused and is so frustrated.   This weekend was a special visit.  She looked like a million bucks and we watched some old WWII movies on TCM with her and dad, and just had some quiet companionable time.   If this was the last time I were to see her I would have very special memories of the visit.

Anyway, I need to get to get busy, but wanted to post and promise to try to get of lurkdom and be a more productive member of this group!

Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Hi friends, how is everyone doing? I'm really sick of the 5 lb. UP 5 lb. DOWN roller-coaster ride that I've been on for the past year-and-a-half. Kim's recipe postings have made me realize that I am not paying nearly enough attention to planning my meals and enjoying the process of cooking - in all fairness, I don't have much time and my husband takes on much of this burden because he gets home hours before I do. But there's great enjoyment to be had in planning and cooking healthy meals, for ourselve and our loved ones. So I'm going to try to get back to this, this week. And see what happens, whether or not this brings some stability back to my own health and the way I'm feeling about this journey... I invite you to chime in on what you'll work on this week. Or just pop in and say hello. Would be great to hear from as many Marchers as possible. Your Reenie

Kim, I REALLY appreciate that you do this! Thank you! Your recipes sound SOOOOO good - and your posts have made me realize that I am in a real rut when it comes to how and what I'm eating. I don't spend much time at all enjoying the process of planning and cooking my meals. I need to get back to this. So I just wanted to tell you thanks for putting in the thought and effort into doing this for all of us - and don't stop, ok? Maureen
