KAREN!!! So happy to see your happy face! I think about you all the time and am so glad to know you're doing so well, remembering your struggles and your pain and sadness as you came to grips with your alcohol addiction. I am struggling with a candy addiction that I've never had before in my life - every day I tell myself this is the day I will not touch the stuff; and every day I fail. It's unlike anything I've ever dealt with. Today is a new day and I swear I am going by the AA mantra, "I can do anything for just one day." Or, "One Day at a Time." I am strong in every other regard - I eat healthily for my meal choices; I continue to work out relatively regularly; but I have this horrible, horrible addiction to candy - not my own, but other people's candy, in their offices where I work. It makes me feel just terrible, like I'm slime. So, I look at you and see what you've done for yourself and if you don't mind, I will try to model your strength - just for today! Thanks for stopping by - I really needed you to do that! Hugs, Maureen

The first few 'cool' evenings before we close the house up for winter, we will sit in the family room with the windows wide open and a roaring fire in the fire place!

We took out 6 trees in the front summer before last and have all that wood.  It's seasoned, so I am actually looking forward to a winter of a fire in the fire place every night.

Hugs, Mo

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... I am the biggest wuss ever when it comes to the cold... most of the time.  Today it was in the 80s and I froze.  I've been to Alaska in March and wandered around without a coat and was toasty warm.  I know it sounds crazy, but I love a crackling pine and will run the AC and start a fire if it hasn't cooled down enough by December.  My favorite wood for burning is Shaggy Bark Juniper, try it if you can get it back there.

Hugs,
Connie

My grandmother was diabetic and we made this every year for holidays.  I love it made with cherry jello.

As soon as I can eat normal food again, this is at the top of my list.

Karen,

I'm glad to see you again and really glad to know you are doing so well.  I think of you at least once a month when I go to get my pain scripts refilled.  I've had many, many conversations with my pain docs about the potential for cross addiction and they take extra care to shift things around and not let me stay on any one thing for too long.  If you hadn't come on here and been so honest about your addiction, I never would have thought to talk to my doctors about the potential of cross addiction.  Thank you so much for sharing yourself.

Hugs,
Connie

I too work in a government building that has heat/cold issues!   There's no telling what the temperature will be either summer or winter.

For the first time in a week or so Mr Mo beat me home from work so when I got here there was already a toasty fire in the fire place.   MMMMMMMMMMM.. that felt good just to be able to kick back and relax in some warmth!
