WARNING!!!!

Well gang; I got a good reminder this weekend about how important proper hydration is. On Friday morning, I started feeling a bit crappy after I got home from work. By Friday afternoon I was vomitting (from both ends) and running a temperature of 102! It was pretty obvious that I had a nasty stomach bug. No big deal, right?.....I've had these before and they pass with time......WRONG!!!!!!!!! Because of the fact that I was running at both ends and that Mr. Pouch is so small, I couldn't keep up with my liquid intake. Also I was just feeling lousy and didn't want to eat or drink much. Well, things really went to hell on me!! I ended up going to the emergency room. When I told them that I had gastric bypass surgery, they x- rayed my stomach to check for strictures and did blood work, EKG etc. just to be safe. Because of some serious dehydration, I spent a couple of hours hooked up to an IV while they dripped a few bags of fluid into me. As expected, they determined that I had a bad stomach bug and sent me home feeling a lot better for the IV fluids. The bottom line in all of this is no matter how bad you are feeling, keep up on your fluids......the alternative really sucks!! Mike

Hi Mikie, Glad to see you posting & glad you are feeling on the better side as well. As connie said, we have been near & today reached over that 100 degree mark in this desert & have to push the water & crystal lite even when we don't think we need it. I have recently cut way back on the coffee since I started the new job & have replaced it with water & propel waters, & losing weight again as well. Thanks for the reminder, even if it was the hard way to find out. Hope to see & hear more from you. Don't work so hard, maybe this was a litlle reminder. Marilyn, the Bearlady
