Potatoes Not Prozac
Hi, is anyone familiar with Kathleen DesMaisons theory on sugar addiction and/or have you read her book, "Potatoes Not Prozac" ?? Just trying to find out how credible this is - sounds to be exactly what I need. And she validates that some people have a super high sensitivity to sugar because of their bio-chemical makeup. Would love to hear from others about this. Thanks. Maureen

I had not heard of this book, but did decide to look it up. I have known that I was a carb addict for years and understood why. It's for the same reason as alcoholic addiction. Sugar is converted into chemicals perceived similarly to serotonin and norepinephrine. We get a natural sugar high, which is of course followed by that very sucky crash. I found several articles on the book and all seemed to be favorable. She has seven steps to follow, but I only found a basic outline of these. Basically, it was don't graze between meals, switch white carbs to brown, excercise, journal, and that's all I remember. Sounds like it could be helpful, hope this was.Love as always, Crissie
