HEY EVERYONE CHECK THIS OUT....
Ok...I've been peeking around the boards and it seems as though wls patients are having issues with gaining and such. People are seeking revisions etc... Turns out that "we" wls patients (most of us at least) are having metabolic issues. SInce we practially starved the weight off it seems to have caused some problems long term. SO> I thought...hmmm. makes sense. SO with that in mind... I went on an internet search and after compiling a ton of info I put together a list of foods that are supposed to boost our metabolisms along with a little extra advice... to help kick start our metabolisms: Here is a list of super power foods that aid in keeping that metabolism up:
Eat at least six meals a day Eat every 3-4 hours Strength Training such as: Multi-Muscle Exercise: Squats, pushups, rowing, lunges. Interval Training such as: One minute of running, one minute of walking. Drink 8-10 glasses of cold water a day Get lots of sleep
Welp... there it is. the super power foods and the icky exercise so Pammy! don't feel bad for eating so much a day its actually helping you... albeit... it makes us hungry and we tend to munch on the wrong things (for me at least). but its better than messing up our metabolisms even more. one of the best on the list above that helps boost the metabolism is the spicy stuff... chilli peppers and hot spices and more protein (lean) than everything (of course we of all people know that) but it all about thermogenics. anywhoo... i have info on each food and what it does for us if any of you want it on a specific food on the list! ((HUGS!!!)) BE CAREFUL OF THAT GRAPEFRUIT! Grapefruit can nullify the effects of MANY medicines. I say skip it if you are on meds.

I tell you I've been feeling very very good. I hate to say great cause then the old LBS thingy will come and slap me on the butt but man do I feel good.
Stress can bring on an episode but I've had a stressful weekend with my family then work has been one stress thing after another the past 3 days and each day I handled it without any major problems. I've only had one very minor episode that was cut off at the pass with a cheese stick and 6 wheat thins!
I'm (pardon the info...) Regular with out straining! Haven't even had my eyes pop out or get a pain in the head trying to get the business done! I never had an issue with that until the LBS thats cause of all the protein now that I eat. Well my homeopathic doc said to sprinkle ground flax seed on things, low and behold it works! I noticed flax is in the list of good things to eat so thats helping me in other ways too! in the book that I got it also talks about the benifits of flax seed.,
I also am drinking nettles tea that is caffine free. not decaf but caffeine free there is a difference, the nettles tea is a natural diaretic - helps to gently flush the system of fluids which I am retaining - thats a part of LBS I'm learning soooo much! It isn't drastic and it works.
I'm also drinking at night a chamomeale tea that relaxes you again its caffeine free not decaf. then i have a ginger tea that helps to energize when you get a little slump in the afternoon,. I like my tea plain but sometimes I sweeten it a tiny bit with stevia or agavey which are natural and ok for me to use with the LBS.
Me who hates vegis and now has to have them every day. Rats ther eis a down side! has been eating raw (yuck ack yuck) broccoli! I'm getting use to it and actually am developing a taste for it. what i do is take my slices of roast beef cut the heads off the raw broccoli and roll it all up. i tricked myself into not knowing the raw crap was there!
the dandelion greens you can get a natural caffeine tea that will give you the same benefits as eating the greens.
I'm becoming a natural store food freak and loving it.
and i'm feeling very good.
I've been walking only 10 minutes at night after work but its a start. I'm still afraid that i'm going to get an episode but i have to excersize. my doc said to start small - baby steps - until i'm feeling better. its as much of the fear of the episode as the actual episode. but i'm over coming tha tnow too and i'm thinking that i might actually get better!
I might actually join the gym this weekend!
I have to say I really give all the credit to my homeopathic doctor on the strides that I have made. I've always love my dr A and still do but i do not have alot of faith in his dietician.
I've always said he is a good surgeon and he is very good. but like Reenie has said before maybe not in these exact words - he doesn't have the years after surgery stuff that we need. I don't expect him too. i expected him to give me good surgery he did. the rest is up to me.
Now i screwed myself up last summer and it has taken a long time to get to the point were I am at. I am hoping to continue. but now I really do feel that I have the best person in my area to help me if I have any issues. I also trust that if it is something she can not fix she'll direct me to the professional who can,.
did i mention i'm feeling good?
