I just returned from a 4 mile walk/jog in the beautiful countryside of northeastern CT that I call home (I'm on vacation this week). The sun is shining brightly; the air temperature is a balmy 55 degrees. The birds were talking mightily between themselves even as they flew from treetop to treetop. I feel renewed.  Even though my weight this a.m. was 162.5 and I have not been able to reign in my devestating habits of emotional eating, I am living in this moment right now and counting my blessings. On my walk, I prayed for Kim, her brother, her son, her daughter; I prayed for Connie that she might find some respite and relief from her pain. I said a prayer of thanks for all the wonderful people in my life who for reasons that are at times inexplicable to me, love me and want the best for me.  I hope that you each will find a moment of peace today. You are in my heart. Maureen

I'm off today cleaning for when my mother and sister come. they should be arriving around 4ish. I've had a wonderful day too. I've needed this fantastic weather for so long.
I dont have the gift for words that you do Reenie but I feel the same way. This first day of warm sun happiness....ahhhh
i've had the windows open I went and had a mani & pedi the most unbelieveble massage with them both. I tell you this day has done more for me than all the diets in the world.
I am still holding at 179 three weeks now. I'd gone up with water weight to 183 and let me tell you i was depressed. that went quickly an i'm happy at 179 I'd be thrilled to be back in the 160's and hope that now that my LBS is getting better than it might happen. I've not taken my size 10's to good will cause I'm hoping to visit with them again.
take care Reene enjoy your day!
good bye snow! Opps I sure don't hope I jenxed us and now we get one of the crazy easter snows.....my bad

Hi Reenie!

Just keep on walkin and that extra food won't matter so much. Oh how nice! You sound like you had a very nice peaceful walk. Those are the best aren't they? It's been so long since I've had a nice walk and never alone on a nice scenic route! I don't know what they are but I can imagine it through you!  :0)  I'm in the dumps because i haven't been able to stick to my diet. I haven't gone overboard or anything but just haven't accomplished what I set out to do. 'sigh' When the warm weather gets here (and I can't wait!) me and matt and the baby will be going for many walks!!! Hope all is going well :) ((Hugs!!!))

Good for you, sometimes we all see where we have failed as opposed to how far we have come.  The real point is five years ago it is unlikely you would have been able to go past four blocks, let alone four miles.

My wife recently hosted her PEO chapter meeting at our house. The 25 plus women commented on our wedding picture given we have a large picture of our extended family.  It will be 20 years this June, but I starting looking at the kids in the picture.  One is a Vice President of a large corporation and resides in Bejing.  One is a Naval Academy graduate and if flying helicoptors for the Navy. Nearly all of them have advanced degrees and good careers.  One starts med school this fall, and another starts law school.  One is overseas with the Peace Corp and he two youngest will be in Dublin and Rome for a year of study abroad.  My point to all of this is that each one of them would most likely point out what they have failed to do, rather then to see what all they have accomplished.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with working towards your goals, but it is always good to stop and smell the roses along the way.  I say this as I sit in my class A uniform, with a black banner over my badge because I will be attending the funeral of a city officer who, in less then a year lost his battle with cancer.  Always remember life can be very short, so if all we do is worry about when we are there, we will miss half the fun.

Get out there, enjoy the day.  Call your signifcant others, siblings, kids and tell them you love them.  I sent my wife a dozen roses today for two reasons.  One is for Saturday night and that is all the information I'm giving out on that one and the other is that even though I'm in a higher risk then most, the bottom line is you just don't know what the day can bring.  So, keeping that in mind, if something were to happen to me or to my wife, I want to know and I want her to know that I adore her and what she brings to my life.  It doesn't hae to be roses, but I make sure to tell those around me that I love them.  It might be a text message to my daughters sometimes, but they know they are on my mind.

Aren't you glad I came back to hop on my soapbox?

I couldn't be happier to see your smiling face on this Board again. What a great reminder your post is of how to embrace life moment to moment, person to person. Thanks Ken. Maureen

I am totally aware that I hit the lotto when I met her!  Smart, funny, tall, red headed, beautiful and Irish.
