PAIN

Oh the pain! My neck hurts soooooooo much!!!   I can't turn it left or right and I cannot lay down to sleep and it hurts when I swallow and the back of my nose is drying out because I am breathing through my nose because I'm clenching my teeth 24/7.  'SIGH' I talked to my doc and she prescribed me Cyclobenzaprine which is generic for Flexeril never ever heard of it before. Supposed to be a muscle relaxer but it didn't TOUCH the pain AT ALL. I was in exruciating pain all night long. I'm sooooo tired. I called today and she told me I didn't give the medicine enough time to work!!! which was WEIRD! Because I thought muscle relaxers were supposed to work right away hence to kill the pain! I took them again today and NOTHING! I was just soooo tired. It was like taking a sleeping pill. Still TONS of pain. it seriously didn't touch it. I took some acetominophen and can already tell a difference. this medicine is terrible. I asked her if i could see the doc and she told me that she cant today only tomorrow she wants me to keep trying the medicine. In other words, i have to suffer all night long before she will see me to use me as a darned guinea pig on this new crap she gave me which DOESNT work. grrr... i go in 10:30 in the morning. great. more money to dish out that i dont have. PLUS my insurance is messing with me and not covering doc appts and is all screwed up there. grr....im about to take another muscle relaxer. (to quote "give it time to work".) still think thats WEIRD. usually that stuff is supposed to work right away to ease your pain quickly. weird weird weird. my neck is still spasming. ok ok... enough moaning and groaning. Just keep me in your prayers!!!! ((hugs!))

So this has been going on now for what, three or four days now? Here's what I found - broadly speaking, on the drug you've been prescribed:

FLEXERIL is indicated as an adjunct to rest and physical therapy for relief of muscle spasm associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions.

Improvement is manifested by relief of muscle spasm and its associated signs and symptoms, namely, pain, tenderness, limitation of motion, and restriction in activities of daily living.

FLEXERIL should be used only for short periods (up to two or three weeks) because adequate evidence of effectiveness for more prolonged use is not available and because muscle spasm associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions is generally of short duration and specific therapy for longer periods is seldom warranted.

How did this happen? How did you injure your neck? Are you sure it's an injury related problem? According to what I'm reading about this drug, it should work to alleviate the pain. But you're supposed to be resting as well. Your in my prayers, dear one. Keep us posted. M.

Thanks :)  Oh I totally agree on the "rest" part of the drug. It knocks me out like benadryl orr that formula 44 stuff.  Soooo hard to work and take it. But i have no choice there. I HAVE to work. I have one day that i can take and may take it tomorrow. It still didn't take away the pain. Lets see....i've had 4 now and pain is still there. What sucks is that im soooo tired but it hurts to lay down. its torture!  I was cleaning like a mad woman on saturday... all day and night. i totally overdid it. But i'm about positive it was mopping the kitchen floor which i did obsessively. I felt something pull gently but it wasnt real painful. Just sore. Then the next day came and i was HURTING its gotten worse and its mostly the muscles in the side of my neck. I think its neck strain from what ive read especially with having a problem swallowing... or rather swallowing and feeling pain. its so sore its like my neck hurts just holding up my head. never had it this bad before. don't like it. Nope. Not one bit. im eating sun chips now because my tummy is mad because i only had soup in it with all the medicine. i had warm compresses on it the other night and OUCH! the pain increased like ten fold. My husband told me not to put heat on it because it swells the muscles if i pulled something. He's right. I looked it up online and it said the same. anyways....im praying it gets better. i have soooo much to do!

i know you have alot to do but you need to rest and take care of yourself. that sounds just so painful i'm hurting just thinking about it! do you go see chiropractors? alot of people are iffy on them. i use to be against them due to a bad one *****ally messed up my back but recently i went to a good one who has restored my faith in them,.
what ever you do decide to do i'm hoping works for you quickly!

Sorry your hurting Elizabeth...I know its no fun..just try to rest the best you can...might be a pinched nerve...dont know how you feel about them but I swear by my chiropractor,,,he's done more for my aches and pains then any darn doctor, might want to consider it. Anyway I hope you are feeling better soon take care of yourself.
