ok...so I am at school teaching when the secretary comes in and says your doctor called, I said ok I will call back on my lunch, she said NO, he is on the phone now and wants to talk to you...can I just tell you how quickly my heart STOPPED...with all the crap I have been thru and add to that that I just had a mamogram last week @@...
so I RUN to the office
the endo guy says got your results...
B levels are alittle on the low side, get b-12 shots and take a b-complex vitamin...OK.
then he said these were your blood sugar numbers...
fasting 87
given 75 grams of sugar
1 hour 75
2 hours 122
3 hours 45
then the test was over...
so I get the diagnosis of DELAYED DUMPING SYMDROME, which basically seems like hypoglycemia to me they are linked on all the medical sites I am reading, so now I have some medication to take before a meal to help with the carbs being digested easier... watch what I eat, I never had to watch carbs before, fats and sugars yes...so more crap to watch and even longer trips to the grocery til I learn what I can eat.
so nearly 4 months after my episode I know what caused it...I feel like I can take a take a deep breath
now I just have to convince my husband and my dad that if I do these things there is no reason for me to have any other kind of "episode", or at least any more chance of me having one than the guy driving next to me who has never had anything happen to him right????
you got any suggestions for good no carb type foods, now this just means the rest of my family has to be this way too, so we ALL will be low carb, sugar and fat...can't be bad for any of us right??

Hey Nic
When I went to no white flour & no real sugar I lost 15 lbs. I would think if you start
with cutting the white flour first. Go lo-carb, you can still eat carbs just get the whole
grains, brown rice instead of white rice. Believe me it is hard to retrain you te re-eat
as I have had to do now that I am diabetic again & on new drugs for that. It is still
very weird to see what triggers my sugars too high & what does not. My hardest meal
is breakfast as I can't seem to eat any kind of cereal without my sugars raising really high very quickly & get very tired of eating eggs all the time. Yogurt does not stay with me long enough, so that is out as well. Good Luck & hope this might help you out

we eat breakfast together in the morning as a family, so I am always making some kind of egg thing and it does get old. I would love to eat oatmeal but evidently I can't eat oatmeal...

So glad to hear you're ok. Those carbs will get us every time. We had wls we aren't supposed to be eating the carbs we do. Period. I wish I could get that through my thick skull. I was soooo bad this weekend with carbs and with sugar. I'm mad at myself. 'sigh' this morning i had some bacon and some potatoes. 'sigh' not what i wanted to eat. not good. Too fatty. I need to force myself on that 3 day diet thing where there's no carbs and no sugar and drink my protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and follow it up with protein bars and then have a nice healthy dinner with a nice healthy protein like snack. It's back to the basics with me. But not today. i messed up today already. today i will count my calories instead. It's a never ending struggle. ((hugs!))
I like whole wheat pancakes and bread... and the whole wheat pasta is good too... but even that stuff whole wheat style is still bad for me... ill start craving more carbs and stuff. BuUt its a good start!

I love whole wheat stuff, the kids are getting used to it, I added vanilla protein to the pancakes and she ate those babies, she loves all things vanilla! so woo hoo! LOL
