slightly OT - BOOTS!!!

Well, it 's that time of year again on the east coast...time to get ready for fall/winter.  One thing that still amazes me is that I can now wear boots....all kinds of boots.  My legs are thin enough to fit comfortably into a pair of normal boots.  I no longer have to forgo them each year because my legs are too fat to fit in them.  All winter, each and every day, I now wear boots,  Ugg boots, leather boots, suede boots, platform boots, wedge boots.....I have them all.  Beige, brown, black...you name it.  I revel in my boots.  It may sound like a simple thing to you, but 100 pounds ago this was not possible for me.  I've been wearing them each winter since the surgery, but every September/October I get the same thrill just from slipping on a simple pair of knee high boots over my leggings.  Humor me, please???  Perhaps you west coast/arizona people can't relate....

Don't forget where we came from and where we are...and where we are going.....

Autumnly yours,
Joanie

I am a member of the boots/shoes club.
Yes heels are something I wear almost every single day. I couldn't wear them before. had to be old lady flats. while I' mvery close to old lady status my plan is to wear the heeled anything as long as I can.
I LOVE boots. This saturday when i went shopping with my daughter I got the cutest pair of knee high slimming black leather kitten heeled boots. I can not wait to wear them. I've already picked out the outfits. They will be perfect with this old ladys black leather above the knee skirt or my mid calf skirts & dresses. I am now looking for a pair of those goucho pants that are mid calf that look almost like a skirt.
Did you know why heeled anything makes us look better?
This is a fact. When we wear heels it tils our hips forward to balance we need to put our shoulders back. It helps to give us the sway we have when we are walking in heeled shoes and it also pushing our boobs out.
The right length of heel is important. You don't want them too high or you are not balancing correctly. If they are too high you take a chance on falling. Each person has their our perfect length of heel.
For me when I am buying I measure the length of the heel by my thumb. If the end of the heel meets the bend of my thumb and the tip of my thumb is touching the other end of the heel then it usually fits me well to walk. I'm not teetering. i can walk comfortably with alittle sway to the old hips.
Those are usually the "kitten" heels.
I also love them if when I walk they make a nice claking sound. Lets the world know Hey pammys coming!
I have this one pair that I swear are my power boots. I wear those and I am the queen of stop & shop! Those also are great for dancing. When I have them on and the DJ starts to play "She's a brick house" watch out cause I've got my our way of conquering that dance floor!

Not bad for an old lady!

Nancy Sinatra, move on over! I've bought a couple of pair as well but I just never got used to wearing them! Guess it's just the old fogie in me. I really do need to come and visit you! I just bet I'll come back to Connecticut feeling (if not looking) 10 years younger!  Maureen

OK ladies, I have found that the BEST place to buy shoes is a clearance sale at Dillard's at the end of a season.   I just checked and unfortunately, there isn't a Dillard's in the New England area, but for the rest of you or if you North Easterners are traveling South.....  I've bought 200.00 shoes for 5.00.  I got a fabulous pair of Gianni Bini boots for 10.00 and a pair of Fryes for 15.00.  I'm almost ashamed to tell you that I have well over 100 pairs of shoes and boots.  I can't wait for the dang weather to get under a hundred degrees so I can break out the boots.

Call me Imelda.

Dear Imelda, the next time you clean out your closet in preparation of one of your spectacular palacial tag sales, I take a size 9, not crazy about wedge or chunky heels, though... surprise me!
