I am voting..always have voted,...never have I picked a winning President...but I will continue to vote. This is my daughters first year of being able to vote, and I am proud of her, she is reading and asking question , very concerned of both canidates views...so young life is not lost, least one will make a sound judgement on her voting.

My son is paying attention as well, Kim - and he rarely pays attention to anything that doesn't have to do with computer games or BMX biking... the issues are all very complex and personal. Never has the country been so divided. But if we step outside of the smaller personal issues, and view them in the context of what's happening in the world, and how the world views the U.S. - and who's responsible for that ... and the kind of intelligence and diplomacy it is going to take to put out those fires so that we can all begin to move forward in this strange and frightening new global economy and new global environment (oh my God, look what's happening IN Alaska and the North Pole and Canada!) - and these wars and these nuclear arms races (that they all say aren't happening but we, of course, know are), and missile defense stations, and the "let's take out Russia..." knee-jerk reactions of our current administration and its ladies-in-waiting... there is no decision quandry for me. There is no way I believe that Obama will sanction partial birth abortion when he is President. He will not make it his mission to suddenly overturn current law and make pba the law. This is not his agenda. And no matter the flames these posts may ignight, it's good to be talking about these issues! My daughter is in Montreal and I am out of my mind with worry with all this nuclear talk - what if I can't get to her? What if I never see her again??? That's what I'm consumed with right now. M.

Maternally yours,
Joanie

LET'S ALL DO THIS - LET'S ALL TUNE IN TO THE DEBATE FRIDAY NIGHT; AGREE TO WATCH AND LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY WITH A VERY OPEN, OBJECTIVE MIND (I promise I will work very hard and be a very good girl!) - and then we can all come together over the weekend and share our insights and see if some of questions have been answered and some of our concerns have been laid to rest.

I agree. I don't think Obama is thinking about lifting anything on PBA, thats not my fear, my fear is that someone in congress will pu**** through and if it reaches him he would let it pass. I'm praying that won't be the case. I agree with you in light of diplomacy. We need someone in there who is not "war mongering" YET... he doesn't have experience in dealing with wars like McCain... are they waiting for a weaker president to hit? is Obama weaker? I dont see him that way so I wouldn't think the other countries would think that way either. 'sigh' i just dont know. just have to wait for the debates. Aside from the PBA i would vote for Obama. im just not sure. i may still vote for him and just pray and plead that the ban not be lifted if it ever comes up. i am concerned that he can't follow through on his plans... but then when you look at how much he has achieved in his life...he is a go getter and seems to get what he wants and works hard for it. just dont know if thats enough to know he can pull off what he has planned. with biden backing.... and im from DE mind you. so... i dont know... i feel pretty good with him. although i would've liked hilllary.  but thats me.

I feel your pain, darlin' - I really do. This is such a crucial moment in the history of our country, I TRULY believe this. Imagine when your toilet is all plugged up and you take a plunger to it and then WHOOSH all that **** (there, I did the work for the OH site!) goes slammin' down the drain -- that's what just happend to the economic floor of our country. When you look into the beautiful faces of your children, and you say, "Matt, honey, eat your carrots," and he say, "I HATE carrots!" and you say, "Eat them, Matt, they're good for you and I love you and I want to take care of you," - well, you have to look at the very big picture and think of your children and say to yourself, "I love you so much and I want to take care of you!" Right now, the financial burden we are dealing with will be carried squarely on the backs of our children and their children - we haven't even begun to feel it yet. Wall Street lost ONE TRILLION DOLLARS IN THREE DAYS!!!! Do you know what that's going to translate into in jobs lost, businesses closed, houses foreclosed on in this country??? My house that was worth $350,000 last year? It's now not even worth the mortgage I have left on it, $118,000! This is REAL! This is what has happened in a Republican led administration. I DO believe Obama has the intelligence and caring nature and diplomacy to lead us - if not out of this mess (who CAN do that other than the Messiah himself??) - then certainly away from it... toward something far more rational and reasonable. McCain's immediate response to Russian and Georgia?  WAR!! The FIRST thing that will happen if he gets in the White House is the draft will be reinstated and my son will be forced into the millitary - that should remain his choice, not forced on him by an administration that feels it has cart blanche authority on which countries it can control or worse, obliterate. I LOVE our troops, I SUPPORT our troops - I DO NOT SUPPORT THIS WAR, or any other war that was waged to make rich people richer... look at Haliburton, the oil companies - oh, I'm sorry. This is not the forum. Watch the debate on Friday. Then let's talk. Love you. M.

hehe... that little minx.  you know she's smirking over there in AZ.   I agree wtih you. Thats what I'm afraid of too... they also mentioned North Korea. Sheesh... no way... i know what evil goes on over there but we can't declare war on everyone!  My husband would disown me if I voted for McCain. lol....   I just have to listen in on friday to be sure. i'lll probably just say a prayer to God and vote and pray it was the right choice and pray that pba ban stays put. I have heard whispers that the housing market problem began with the clinton administration when he passed something or other that was the begining cause of the housing market crash. I haven't looked into all that yet. But it wouldn't surprise me as it would be a trickle down effect in essence. But I just dont know. cant go by that rumor until i read more into it. but people were debating it on some website and many roared it began in that administration when he passed that whatever bill.  whatever bill that was. I just find it a bit hard to believe. all i know is i didn't vote for bush!!!!  lol... i begged my parents NOT to vote for him he ran oil companies into the ground. that was a clue... and his diplomatic abilites were cat sratch. he had none. he was a terrible speaker and had a mouth on him that just made you smack your forehead and go DOH!!! what is he saying!!!!!!!?????  we sound like idiots!  beer drinkin' gun tottin idiots!  'sigh' ah well.... its in Gods hands once the votes go in. Lets just hope our votes actually COUNT this time. i dont see how mccain is going to win, but then again... never know.

Obama said no.  He'll be there waiting for McCain.  The University of Mississipi is putting together a contingency plan in case McCain doesn't show up.
