Hi
I spent most of the day in the ER as turns out  the kidney infection is not gone & was
very much out of control again. So after many hours, they finally got a hold of my Dr. &
they gave me 2 very big shots in each arm of antibiotics that were different then the pills
I had been taking for 3 weeks. Gee they finally realized I was not obsorbing them with
the RNY. I tried to tell my Dr this a week ago & she said just keep taking the Cipro
& I would get better.  Anyway after the shots & a couple of vicadin I can breath again
& very close to bein asleep.  My Mom will give me a shot tomorrow & also on Sunday\So hopefully I will be over this soon & I can return to feeling better. This for sure has been the worst month I have ever spent & sure would like to feel better.
The good news in ll of this is I am down 12 lbs & was 238 this a.m.. The diabetis info
scared the crap out of me & have cut all sugar & white flour out of my eating & have
not been eating all that much feeling like I have. So I guess we can train our pouch to old ways. Going to bed now as my keyboard is looking a little blurry from drugs.

I feel somewhat better today, but still might have to have MRI to see if any permanet damage is in the kidney from all of this. Without any insurance trying to put off that as
long as possible as don't have $400 to put out for it!!
I just want the pain gone & I will be a happy
camper.

Poor Marilyn.  Kidney pain is just miserable.  I've always said that we do not absorb medications like normal people.  I have kidney disease and get urinary infections more frequently than most people.  After surgery, I had to start running two courses of antibiotics because one course didn't clear up the infection anymore.

When I was in the hospital for pnuemonia, they did a CT scan and found that my left kidney was full of stones and calcified.  Good news is I'm on morphine all the time now because of my back so I never felt the stones.

I'm trying to figure out the whole coffee, tea or kidney question.  I cut way back on coffee and switched to iced tea.  I make my tea at home and make it with 1/2 decaf in hopes of weaning myself off of caffeine someday.  My kidney specialist says stop drinking tea altogether because it causes stones.  What, what, what?!?!  Crap.  So what I'm doing now is a Big glass of iced coffee in the morning and a mix of cranberry juice and water the rest of the day.  The problem is that I need the caffeine to keep the painkillers from putting me to sleep during the day.  Ironically, they don't put me to sleep at night.  Anyway, try drinking lots and lots of water with cranberry juice mixed in to help balance your kidney acidity.

So... my poor Marilyn...  hang in there.  I know this has been a craptacular month for you, but  you're strong and you will survive it.

Big hugs,
Connie

Marilyn!!!

Oh I hate you are going through Kidney pain. It is excruciating! YAY on the 12 pounds!!!!  it just sucks it takes being sick to drop them. I know myself. 'sigh' but YAY! 238! woo hoo!!! drink lots of water and cranberry juice. and also get some liquid milk thistle. It helps liver and kidney function. I keep promoting this stuff but no one seems to want to hear me   you can get it at the vitamin shoppe or GNC. it tastes very yucky but it very good for you!  i keep wondering about absorbing medicine too. It just either doesnt have the potency and if it does... it seems to go through our systems quicker. at any rate... hang in there and get some rest!

And Miss Connie!!! you better stop that caffiene! 'sigh' easier said than done. "snort" I'm used to no caffiene because I get stroke symptom migranes which could lead to a stroke itself. Sooooo... no caffiene for me. If I have even like four sips of coffee I can feel my finger tips start to numb. I DO drink decaf and my body allows that. it has a scant amount of caffeine. Start mixing part decaf and part coffee... start cutting back slowly.  it is really bad for you. Good for helping with weight loss. BAD for just about everything else from causing cycts in the breasts to kidney stones and ulcer issues. (if you are prone to them of course not that it causes ulcers) to irrirtating heart issues and reflux issues... etc. etc... the list goes on. Overall caffiene is just not good. cut a little out at a time. Snoozing is better than getting MORE stones and having to go on MORE medicine to prevent the pain and then its a never ending vicious cycle. 'sigh' wi**** were all that easy though.

Boy i'm just full of suggestions... or hot air one.
