Not sure why, but I'm really ready to get this liquid phase underway today. I think it's because I'm looking forward to giving my tummy and intestines a break. I've got lots of shake supplies, sugar free puddings and soups galore. I'll let you know how it goes. Hugs, Connie

10:30 here in the Land of the Ozone Alert and so far, so good. I started the day with a thick, icy protein shake made with a scoop of vanilla protein powder, 1/2 a scoop of strawberry protein powder, strawberries, blueberries and 2 ounces of pomegranite juice. That was at about 7:00 am and it held me until just now when the hunger pangs started - not bad, just annoying. I had a small cup of sugar free tapioca pudding and that should hold me until lunch when I have the cup of split pea soup that is waiting on deck. I have a can of bean and bacon soup on standby for the afternoon if I should need it. I'm mushing the beans and peas in the soups to make ithem more cream soup-like. I've probably consumed more calories than I normally would by now, but I'm doing this to see if it shrinks the pouch. I normally log all my calories and stick to about 1200 a day, but don't lose anything so I'm curious to see what this does. I'm sure the day will pass just fine, but the night might be an issue because that is prime grazing time for me and difficult under any cir****tances. Maybe this will help me break that pattern. OK, done with the stream of conciousness. More to follow later.

Sorry in advance for the ridiculous amount of posts I'm going to do over the next few days. I'm posting things that I find helpful as I come across them so I don't forget. I had The Spice Hunter brand of Split Pea soup for lunch and it was pretty dang tasty. It's dried soup in a cup and I just added ho****er out of the water dispenser in the office. It has 250 calories and 16 grams of protein. Can't get much easier than that. I opted to go this route so I didn't have to go to the lunch room and smell everyone else heating up their lunches in the microwaves. 12:30 and I haven't bitten off anyone's head or pinched anyone - as much as they may have deserved it. It's been a rough morning here at the salt mines, but the food situation has been tolerable.

Yeah, they have those dry soups in a cup that you just add boiling water to. I've never been a fan of Split Pea soup, but I figured this would be good for me. I may just be a split pea convert. I found it at Fry's which is also Kroger or Fred Meyer.

I went and bought my stuff today to start tomorrow; one of my questions was can I puree fruit in with my protein drink? What about plain yogurt, can I throw a little of that in there? So tomorrow, I will have nothing but liquids - and I'm going to look for your post first thing in the a.m. and will post at the end of the day about how things went for me. CHARGE!!!

I'm sure you can add the yogurt. Don't know about the fruit, but I added strawberries and blueberries to my protein shakes. I couldn't find anything on the website that said anything about the fruit either way. Day one is over for me and it was pretty dang easy

I defy all laws of physics. I weighed in this morning and started the liquids. Luckily for me I FINALLY had some cooperation from my colon after about 10 days. The last 4 days were spent bombarding it with all manner of encouragement. I'll spare you details other than The Man is certain we can flush Bin Laden out of hiding if we send me to Afghanistan with a laxitive. Anyway, the order was: Weigh in Use the bathroom Drink 800 calories of liquids through the day Pee at least 8 times Weigh myself again AND I GAINED 3 POUNDS!!!!!!!!! OK, enough whining. After my lunch of Split Pea soup, I had a sugar free pudding at about 2:30 and 1/2 a can of bean and bacon soup aout 4:00. I mushed up ome of the beans, but mostly drank the broth. I think the trick to this is going to be eating/drinking often enough to not get ravenous. I've been able to get through the day by telling myself that any hunger is temporary and reminding myself that I've had at least 7 surgeries and had nothing but clear liquids the day before each of those and survived. The plan for the rest of the night is to have soup in a few minutes and then a protein shake before bed. You can do this Maureen. So far, it hasn't been too tough.
