LAELA
Have I told you guys how much I love my pony? Pony nothin' she towers over me. Laela has the softest eyes of any horse I've ever been around. I'm convinced she thinks she's a black lab - she nuzzles me when I'm grooming her and she plays tricks with her hooves when I'm trying to pick the poop out of them - it's a game, you can hear the laughter in her snort. I am reminded every time I get on her how incredibly blessed I am to have been given my life back because of this surgery. Five years ago, I could barely lift my feet off the ground to walk; the thought of hoisting that body into the air and onto a horse's back was unthinkable. Now I not only get into the saddle with incredible ease, I lunge her on the ground, chasing her into a "big trot" or canter like a high school athlete. I am blessed. Laela is keeping me fit and strong and wanting to keep fighting this battle. And I think she knows it on some level. When I'm low on energy, she makes me move my butt; when she's sluggish, I make her move hers - synergy. So, tonight I groomed her to a spit shine as I prepare to move her to a new barn where I will be working with a new trainer. Change does not come easily to me these days - I'm getting rather old for changes - but not for new adventures. Find your Laela, my dear friends. Wherever your heart's desire leads you, spend your energy there - and you won't have so much to give away to Demon Food. Love you guys, Maureen
LAELA sounds wonderful...I miss my horse..I grew up on horses and I had this special one Sugarhips...to this day I still think of her, she was like my best friend growing up. Im getting sad here thinking of her. She was a huge Palomino, very blonde, thats why i called her Sugarhips she looked like sugar and was as sweet. Those were good days. Im so jealous of you Reenie...I wish I could go riding. I plan on getting another horse. Right now me and husband are fencing in the property for one, and I check with our county and I can have one here . So sooon....but not soon enough. Enjoy your baby, I saw her pics and she is absolutly BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!
I miss horses. Horses were part of growing up for me. My Laela is usually travel or remodeling, but I've kind of put those on hold for a while because I'm on a money diet. My sister needs help so helping her I am. I am flying to Chicago next Friday, only to be picked up at the airport and hit the road back to Arizona. I'm helping her drive back here for a short vacation. Friday the 22nd, I'll drive her back up to Chicago and go to O'Hare and catch a plane back here on the 22nd to be back at work on the 23rd. Yes, Virginia, I'm insane.
Reenie, I have a mental image of you at over 300 pounds, hoping that one day you would be back on a horse. I remember you posting about it when it was a far away dream. I'm proud of you.
