Jet Lagged
Man, I'm pooped. Is any woman out there in their 50s having any success whatsoever SLEEPING??? Geez, someone shoot me and put me out of my misery! I sleep soundly from about 10-2 and then WHAMMO, my eyes fly open, my heart starts beating fast, my head starts racing with all the thoughts about all the things that have to get done and I'm up and on the fly - I'm not even taking a lunch break anymore, which used to be my coveted workout hour. I am in a RUT routine. But I finally got the kayak out very early Sunday a.m. and really enjoyed the peace and quiet of my time on the water. The trip to L.A. was exhausting and the conference incredibly intense - nothing but sitting and eating, sitting some more and eating some more. Man, did we eat. I've got a bonafide tire around my middle. I feel LOUSY. But I'm back home and now we're getting ready to head to Montreal to spend a week with Jillian. I'm going to try really hard to be good...otherwise I'm in big time trouble here, folks...how's everyone else doing? Love, Maureen
i'm hangin reenie--michael and i got food poisoning saturday nite--we spent 7 hours in ER sunday and he is in the hospital becuz of it- severe dehydration and a bowel obstruction-that has since worked itself out but surgeon keeping him for at least one more nite
i think the only thing that saved me being so sick was that my lil tummy wouldn't allow as much to eat and so it cleaned out faster-thank goodness cuz i thought i was dying for about 5 hours.....
the horrible thing is that it was something i cooked-ouch!
sleep- usually i can get to sleep pretty fast and sleep thru almost all nite- but i think that is my depression still workin!
Welcome Back!
Sorry you are feeling so bad. Try Meletonin---you can get them from the vitamin shoppe---it's all natural and does help with sleep. As I said earlier, I need to change things up somehow. The water retention has been horrible lately, I hurt my back at the gym last week, so I haven't been back yet...I plan on going back tomorrow but taking things light. I gained like 4 pounds between the water retention and the backed up bowels and feeling very sluggish. I hate that. And, of course, every weekend is jammed packed with activity. I am trying to watch my sodium intake, and that's rather difficult.
Any suggestions??
Thanks!
Joanie
I am so glad you're back , we've missed you! As for sleeping, I don't know what I'll do when school starts. Now I stay up anywhere from 2 to 4 A.M. Then some times I sleep till 7 or 8 A.M. I'll do this for a few days then I'll sleep for 9 or 10 hours one day, then it all starts over. I might go to bed at 9 P.M. and get up at 12 A.M.. I'll guess it's all a woman thing. My husband doesn't have any problem at all sleeping anytime.
I'm still not doing good with eating. I've gone up and down 5 pounds over and over all summer. Jean is still having trouble with the kidney stones. She had the stint taken out of the right kidney yesterday and she is going into the hospital Thursday to have lithotrispy in the left kidney. The time they did the right kidney lithotrispy , she had trouble breathing and her blood pressure went up real high, so the doctor is afraid go do this in his clinic. This has been so hard seeing her suffer like she has. She is getting so skinny, I do pray that after Thursday , she will get better. When she gets better Jeffrey (her husband ) and I are going to do better, too.
Enjoy your time with Jillian!! Love ya , Judy
I'm a few years away from my 50's and not sleeping. Can't wait to see what the 50's will bring. They'll probably find me at work in my bunny slippers, wearing my bra on the outside of my blouse. Joanie is right about the Melatonin, I think you recommended it for me. It helped until my hip pain got too bad and started waking me up all night.
Hugs,
Connie
