Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a nice Fourth of July. I was away on vacation down Crisfield MD. Sorry, I wanted to check in before I left but everything was so hectic. The baby was sick and her fever broke the very last day before we went down. It was nice. I went fishing and swiming and just hung out and relaxed. They had 3 vicious thunder storms wtih tornado warnings. I mean they were WICKED!!! I never in my life seen lightning so horrible and massive in my life! I like storms, I was never afraid of lightning per se... but I was terrified that those lightning bolts were headed our way!!! I mean... I can't begin to tell you how horrible they were. The wind**** 60 miles an hour... gale winds of course. Tornado warnings and watches... it was scary! But asdie from those 3 storms it was so nice to get away for awhile. The baby has another temperature again. I think she is trying to cut those back teeth. My son had a lump on the bottom of his skull that the doc says is lymph node that is swollen from a tick bite. Not a deer tick thank goodness. Shew! When it rains it pours and the darn doc today cost me 50 bucks! grrr.... I'm tapped. My diet went to crap on vacation... but oh well... it was vacation so thats ok. I didn't gain (THANK GOODNESS!) so back to cutting out sugar and carbs. well I have to go I'll check in soon! ((hugs!)) Whew! I thought I lost you again!!! I'm glad the little ones are ok, hey - maybe this lump is tick related, we sure have plenty of them in CT and my neurotic cat, Ginger, has been snuggling up right under my chin at night when I'm deep asleep so God knows what's hopping from her skin onto mine in the dark hours of the night; we shall see, glad he's ok though! You and Joy need to get acquainted now that you're both home - no two people bring sunshine into my life like you two do!!! Hugs, Maureen

What a night! I think I am going to have to go BACK to the doctors tomorrow. Matt is sick now. His stomach is hurting him and he has a headache and a fever and said the lights are making him nauseous. Katelyn was crying crying crying earlier, then she stopped and was running all over the place laughing and making noises. I had given her motrin and think it helped her. Just put her to bed. But now I'm worried about Matt. 'sigh' With the ticks around here its freaking me out big time. Katelyn was bit by a deer tick about a month ago and my husband is worried the on and off temperature is related to lymes disease. Now with matt and the lymph node thing and now the headache and nausea and fever I'm wondering about him and lymes disease. I think I'm going to insist that they both get the test done just to rule it out. I"m not crazy about their pediatrician. He doesn't even check their temperature when they go. I hate that. That should be the first thing the nurses check. But they don't. I mean he can feel the baby and knew she was running a fever, but wouldn't he like to know the exact number?? I don't know. He's knowledable enough, but... I tell you...I HATE to say this... but... typical male doctor. Not that they are all like that but... He's been in the practice for so long he thinks he can diagnose by seeing. You still need tests to be sure. I went through that with the last two male doctors I had and decided to try a female doctor, LOVE HER!!! they never just say... oh I THINK its just this... I always have tests done to be sure. I'm ready to switch them back to Matts old docs who happen to be women. THey were fabulous, a very popular practice. Anywho... looks like I'll be calling out of work AGAIN! I swear I wouldn't be surprised if they can my a$$ after all the time I had to take with Katelyn when she was teething and running temperatures for a week at a time. Stress stress stress... NOw I have some funky indentation on the front part of my skull... no effects, its just there. I looked it up online and believe it or not many MANY women around my age (34) suddenly have it too! No one really knows what they are...they get tests which come back fine and clean. Some say that stress causes them. WEIRD if you ask me. Welp... tomorrow will be another fun filled day!!!! I guess its another 25 bucks for Matt so that amounts to 75 dollars in 2 days in doctor visits. Damn I'm all for universal health care. I'm so sick of the co pays and medicine payments and everything else I have to pay that my ins decides isn't necessary. Grrr... I turned the lights off for matt because they were bothering him and he's already asleep. Poor guy. Man I HATE it when the kids are sick!!! Elizabeth M

Elizabeth, insist on Lyme testing for both, sounds like classic symptoms; Lyme is so prevalent in CT (in fact, originated in Lyme, CT, hence the name of the disease), it's routine to get tested here - make them test your kids, it's simple, fast, and reliable ... and nothing you want to mess with if they have it. Let us know what's going on - love, Maureen
