Taking a Poll
I work at Connecticut College, a very prestigeous liberal arts college - a perk is I get to take classes for nada, free, whenever I want - this fall, I can't decide between two, so help me out - cast your vote, which of the following two courses should I take, both offered through the Athletics Dept:
Sea Kayaking - I'll learn how to roll over, breathe underwater and right myself up, paddle through strong currents, and take a kayak into the ocean - yikes!!!! Can you say, "We're gonna need a bigger boat..." - I'm basically a fearful person so I always try to find situations that will make me push myself through that fear - builds character and all that rot, you know?
Rowing/Sculling - You know, those very long, skinny rowing numbers that you heave/ho through the water at a very fast clip - all abs and arm muscles - and peace and quiet ... ahhhhhhhh
Ok, Marchers - no bent, torn, or otherwise mutilated chads please! Your Reenie
Reenie,
If it were me, I'd be taking the Sea Kayaking class with The Man standing on the shore with a bullhorn screaming "You crazy nut! Get out of that boat before you kill yourself!" And I'd smile and roll. This coming from a man who has 5 life saving medals for running into burning buildings and wrestling with ax wielding maniacs.
Having said that, I'd vote for the sculling for you first and then the kayaking. Your "ahhhhhhhh" at the end of "peace and quiet" said it all.
Love ya,
C.
