So I am being really mindful of what goes into my mouth because the medication is making me not graze... so I figure why fight it why not run with it. So today I had breakfast: orange/vanilla protein shake coffee: dcaf hazlenut at soccer practice lunch: barbque (kind of) pork chop snack: 2 egg rolls (they were hot and fresh...ugh... and upset my stomach) a coworker called and his church was doing a fund raiser so I bought some so I didnot have to cook dinner for the family dinner: another pork chop snack: chocolate peanut butter protein shake I have had 32 oz. of tea and 16 iced coffee this afternoon and will probably drink another 32 oz. of some liquid... I need ideas...I am running out and all my recipe books are with a friend... so what did you eat today??? nic

Hi Nic! I was actually thinkin about ya yesterday becaue I didn't eat very much at all!! I kept thinking about your low blood sugar dips and was feeling a little dizzy and needed my protein shake but didn't have one on me. Anyways... I was running ALL DAY yesterday. Yesterday was my son's birthday party. I was up 8:00 in the morning running to walmart cleaning my mothers house etc. etc. etc.... and never got the time to really eat much at all. I had a piece of pizza that I beamed over because I couldn't fini**** all!!! I can't even remember the last time I couldn't eat a whole piece of pizza. I can usually eat two or three!!!!! I was in shock! Maybe my stoma isn't as enlarged as I thought??? huh. anyways. I had half of a very small piece of birthday cake and then just tea and propel. I was so exhausted when I came home I fell asleep. I resisted doritos which Im proud of becaues I really wanted them!!!! Today though... Today so far I've had: 2 eggs and 2 slices of cheese. Propel decaf coffe with a little milk and a dash of cream I'm trying desperately to stick with protein, but once in awhile, I have something sweet. I try to make it very small though. I have like 1/2 c of ice cream. or like the tiny piece of cake I ate yesterday. I try to avoid sugar altogether which is hard, but if I slip I try to make it minimal. ice cream is a treat only for once a week. and anything else is really off limits unless its like... sugar free candy. OH! and I bought sugar free ice-pops! You know the freeze ones in the plastic. The small strips? I can put those away and was like... cant do the sugar anymore... then I found the sugar free ones and I"m SO PSYCHED! i LOVE my freeze pops man. Hope you're doing well! Elizabeth M

We just came back from sunday brunch. We went to this european bistro with a view of the ocean...ate out on the porch....fantastic. I had: Coffee, black with sweet n low Frattata with goat cheese, tomatoes and asparagus. about a quarter of a cup of home fries. I did not eat the entire frattata, but it was quite delicious. I figured the eggs and goat cheese provided the protein, and the veggies are always safe. I only picked on the home fries and left most of them. BUT....... the shorts I'm wearing are a size 8. That makes me happy Joanie

last day of my vacation...ahhhhhh what did i eat today? one egg over easy, 1/2 a raisin english muffin, 3 tiny pieces of home fries, one slice of french toast. lunch was a atkins protein bar snack was protein chips. i hadn't been able to find them in Ct but up in NH i found 2 bags. They are yummy. salty but not alot of sodium, protein is 7 grams with 0 fat. I'm going to try to see if i can order them on line. Then again if i did i'd only eat them! best to not add anything to my daily eating and keep them as a nice surprise when I go to NH. I did have 2 tootsie pops. yuck. tomorrow is back to my regular routine and work. joy you always have the most intersting, informative, up lifting posts. loved to read about the great place were you had and what you had for lunch. I envision your life as being very interesting. i'm heading out to stop & shop to see if i can find goat cheese for my work/lunch salads!

I absolutely love goat cheese. Very distinctive flavor. It was PERFECT with the eggs and veggies. The place was a little pricy (the man and I spent $40 for breakfast) but not something you do often and rather worth it. The place is called Bia....and it attracted me because my daughter calls her best friend, Tony, Bia. it was always a nickname for him and I really don't know why. Let me know about your salads with goat cheese. the stop and shop near us has it. Joanie

ok now that I am hungry for home fries LOL! that frittatta sounds lovely too! Today was my sister Ovarian cancer research triathalon! It was great and hard all at the same time. We both missed Mom so much today! But we know that she was there watching and making sure noone swam over my "teeny"sister in the pool, she always has someone swim completely over her but not this year! Thanks Mom! I had coffee,a granola bar thingie at the race and that was it...and wondered why I couldn't keep myself together this afternoon. Ate a turkey cheese roll up and took a nap and feel much better. I swear I must be stupid. I know I have to eat I know this and I was so anxious about today I left the house without anything ugh... Elizabeth, I am glad you had birthday cake with your baby! My sister refuses to have any, it is upsetting to my niece, who now doesn't want to have a birthday party. We fight about it every year, I am of the mind that a bite of cake 1x a year will not hurt her , nor make her weigh 250 pounds again, she obviously has the will power as she hasn't had any sugar at all since her surgery, she could be the poster child for WLS. But if it hurts my baby's feelings I just won't do it. My girl loves to cook, and I will eat one bite of whatever she makes...usually it is gagged down but I eat it and smile hugs to ya! I am off to have a shake and play guitar hero with the hubbster! LOL Nic

Nic, I'm so happy and relieved to see you posting again. What is the drug that has diminished your appetite? My doc recently put me on a low dose of Topomax and I swear I've lost my desire to eat in the last few days; not radically, but it has just taken the edge off, as if I have a constant feeling of fullness. Weird. So I'm going to try and take advantage of this and see if I can get 10 lbs. off! Today, I've planned to eat: for breakfast, a healthy protein shake with added strawberries and blueberries, and a small container (60 cal.) of lite&ft yogurt; for lunch, tuna salad; for dinner, the same as breakfast. I will work out on my lunch hour, and I hope to ride Laela after work - which is a work out in and of itself! Have a great day, everyone. Maureen

Hiya Reen! you know, that sounds like a rather strict plan. I don't think I could ever sustain that for long. No veggies?? Do protein shakes fill you up...even with the fruit? I don't think it would hold me until lunch. Have you ever tried the fat free greek yogurts? Very high in protein, and low in fat, and sugar. They are a lot creamier than regular yogurt. The one I like is called Chobani. They sell it at most of the grocery stores around here. The nurse in my surgeon's office told me about it. You can look it up on line, they have a website. It's great stuff. Joanie

Actually, Joanie, my tuna salad is the kind that sits on a nice bed of greens - romaine lettuce, green peppers, red onions, oh it was yummy! If someone would have put that salad and a plate of twinkies in front of me and said, "ok, pick one!" - I would have jumped all over that salad! Very delicious and filling. The shake in the a.m. is very thick as well and really holds me over. It's the p.m. that I have a hard time with, that's when I want to graze, I think out of bordom and stress related to marraige/family issues. But I'm working on it! Hey, I want to come visit, your little coastal town sounds lovely!!!! How about Jim and I come and visit you and your guy some time this summer??? I figure we're about 3 hours away...Love, M.

The salad sounds delish, as I am sitting at my desk eating a fat free bologna sandwich on weigh****chers multi grain bread and a bag of 100 calorie veggie chips. I also had half of a sliced cucumber, so that was good. Yes, it is a cute little victorian beach town and I absolutely love it here. Of course, you are welcome any time~!! Joanie
