A new week
Hi everyone,
Well wishes to all of us. I'm still watching what I eat. Although, yesterday I watched myself eat 2 small pieces of German black forest truffle chocolates. ah well. I caved a little and after having a canoli on Sunday!!! anywhooo... not too bad to oops on one canoli and 2 small pieces of chocolate in a week. Bascially I have lost 7 pounds in one week cutting out all bread and sugar (Minus the canoli and chocolate). at any rate. I've been doing the protein thing. So far so good I'm struggling now for some reason though. I just had soup (italian wedding) a tiny bit of carbs. VERY TINY since its the soup in the hand (90 calories) and I had some trail mix. No salt added. I ate the soup and the trail mix and feel so hungry! I know its the trail mix since there was 15 grams of sugar in it!!! I didn't think to look for sugar in the trail mix. I don't know why. No there was no chocolate but there was dried bananas and raisins and dates. So thats probably where the sugar came in. SO now I'm hungry. Darnit! I have to watch more carefully.
Joanie...you're going to snort at me over this... but I am going to try a diet!!!
I'm going on vacation on the 28th so I want to see if I can loose as much as possible. I happened upon a diet, which of course I'm skeptical, it says you can loose 18lbs in 4 days by eating things like chicken and tomatoes and eggs and grapefruit and stuff. You don't starve yourself and its proteiny. Probably won't happen but I'm gonna give it a go and see what happens. Theres no pills or weirdo drinks just plain ol' chicken and veggies and fruit. I guess its the chemical combination. We shall see. We shall see. I'll let you know. I don't normally do "diets" but I want to give it a shot to see what I can loose before vacation. If it don't work. eh. it don't work. I'll be none worse for the wear since I'll still have banned my sugar and carbs. but if it does work and it's healthy then wahoo I guess. anyways... I'm still sticking with my "eat when hungry" and "Whats your body want" well... maybe not so much what my body wants, because my body is craving sugar and wants some chocolate. at least my brain does!
Ok now all can yell at me for doing the weirdo diet
Elizabeth M
No yelling aloud. 'lizbet, you're craving sugar and carbs because as you noted in an earlier post, it's that time of the month! Gosh, when will women stop blaming themselves for EVERYTHING and just look to the natural cycle of life for all reasonable and rational explanations??? Now then, what's the link to that DIET! Maureen
Yeah Eating the 15 grams of sugar set me off too, plus that time of the month. 'sigh' we just can't catch a break! WELP I looked into the diet and the guy doesn't give back your money if you don't loose the weight. I also heard its just the cabbage soup diet. Don't know if thats true or not, so I am debating whether or not to give it a try. Maybe I'll get ripped off anyway just for the heck of it. I'll let you know what happens. I don't want you to loose any money. Its a rip off I'm sure, but curious none the less. I'm such a sucker! I don't in any way believe you can loose 18 pounds in 4 days. Thats just not possible. I didn't loose that when I ate nothing but liquid before surgery in 3 days. so... i was thinking if i could even get off loosing like 6 lbs in 4 days, that would be ok. eh... I'll probably just stick with my protein only thing that seems to be working well anyways I'll let you know

One of my co workers went on one of those short term bare bones diets. She ended up in the hospital because it knocked her blood pressure out of wack and she started to get heart palputations.
I did the cottage cheese/yogurt thing a week before a wedding once. I was the most miserable person in the world. By the end of the week, I lost 4 pounds. Hardly worth it really. I have a lot of problems with my bowels. I probably could have just taken a laxative and gotten the same affect.
When I got home from work, there was left over roast beef from last night in the fridge. I was DYING for rice with it. Starchy, carby white rice. With butter. I thought about it all the way home. Rice with hot gravy...yeah baby. I got in the door, but my stuff down, pet the cats and said.....NAAAAAHHHHH. I ate the roast beef, had a little salad and a sugar free chocolate pudding. Maybe later I'll have a piece of cheese before bed. I think the thought of the rice was better than actually eating it.
I promised myself I will stop buying olives. I know they are low in calories, but the sodium is killing me. I look like elephant ankles. As of now, there are no olives in the house and there will not be. I kept buying them because I really like them and figured they weren't that bad for you calorie wise....the big fat green ones...marinated in garlic. Then my man emailed me an article he found online about how they can actually keep you from losing weight because of the sodium. I just can't win.
Take care and good luck!!!

Yeah, those crash diets can be very dangerous. Its always good best to check with the doc before doing something like that. It sounded ok since he said it had chicken and veggies which is what i'm doing now, but then I heard it was a lie and it was the cabbage soup diet. so i skipped it. I'll just stick with my protein. Hey! We were in the same boat. Last night I had a little bit of rice. And it was meh. not that great. I only ate like 3 teaspoons worth then just decided to eat the chicken. Then later I had some sugar free natural peanut butter. Oh I also had some pumpkin seeds. They are my salt demon!!!! I have to give them up! THey also support grazing since you eat them slowly and it lasts forever. Gotta kick them to the curb!!! I've heard that olives and pickles really are the worst when it comes to retaining water. There was an actual shocking figure... like one pickle equals 1 pound of water weight... (or something like that!) it was pretty significant though whatever the equal was. I brought my natural peanut butter to work today becasue I was a little hungry in the afternoon yesterday. Its hard kicking carb and sugar to the curb. It IS getting better though! I'm feeling really hopeful this time around
