Geneen Roth's Food Guidelines
So Roth swears that if we adopt her 7 food guidelines - really embrace them so that they become as natural to us as breathing, we will overcome our food demons. I have a suggestion: for anyone who would like to try this with me, I suggest we look at one guideline at a time and really tackle it. As simple as they sound, they are difficult to really incorporate into every day living. So, this week - I'm going to see if I can really take on Guideline No. 1: EAT ONLY WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY. Never eat unless your body is telling you it needs something. EAT ONLY WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY. Let's start there. Let's pay attention to our beautiful, miraculous bodies and take care of ourselves but listening, really paying attention to what it needs - and when. This week, EAT ONLY WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY. Welp, I am totally with you because I failed the liquid diet today. 'sigh' Ah well...tomorrow is another day... but I DID eat only when I was hungry! Starved more like it. I came home and had NO chicken broth. Only new england clam chowder...I can't eat that it makes me sick, it's one thing I know for sure that I dump on so I definitely stay away. But I was out of chicken noodle soup and broth! my husband had me order papa johns so I ate one slice of pizza and 2 chicken fingers, which were very small. not bad. So tomorrow is another day... and I'm gonna do the hungry thing with you.
