Just Stuff
So Thursday I had an epidural on my back and it wiped me out for a couple of days. Note to self: Never take The Man to your pain specialist because he will tell them exactly how much you hurt. By Saturday, I had spent two days wiped out in the bed so he decided to take me over to his brother's house for the afternoon. There are always a lot of friends and family wandering in and out of his brother's house and one of them is a woman named Michelle. Michelle is in her forties and has a body that is better than 90% of the women in Playboy. A very tiny waist, muscular legs and tatas that are amazing (store bought). I have to admit the last time I saw Michelle, I thought she looked like she might have gained an ounce or two and I was secretly thrilled. OK, I'm not nice. Women stare when she walks in the room and men just openly stare and drool. And she's NICE! OK so anyway, The Man, his brother and his sister-in-law are outside talking to the police and getting a trespassing warrant filed on the neghbor (long story) and Michelle and I are talking. I'm telling you guys that bombshell or not, that woman is going through everything we are with food issues. Uncontrollable cravings that she has never had before. Gaining weight no matter what she does. Body redistributing itself in ways that she does not appreciate. Maybe, we're just getting older and beating ourselves up for things that are part of the natural aging process.
I spent the rest of the weekend nursing my poor, poor Calico cat. I found her late on Friday afternoon, cut up and curled up in a ball. I rushed her to the vet who scheduled surgery on an abdominal hernia first thing Monday morning. I wish I had insisted that she operate right away or taken her to another vet. Poor Maisy suffered all weekend with me feeding her water with an eye dropper so she wouldn't dehydrate. I went back to the vet on Saturday and got something for pain and spent most of the weekend curled up on the bed around my poor cat. We don't know what happened to her, but Maisey is full of gashes, her ribs are cracked, she had a severe abdominal hernia and she's bruised purple all over her belly and sides. We didn't know this until she was shaved for surgery. My wallet hurts after paying a thousand dollars (yes, really, a thousand), but my heart hurts worse. I hate to see animals suffer and especially Maisey. She has another lump on her leg so there may be more surgery in her future.
Sunday night, The Man went to the hospital with his blood pressure at 240 over something like 130. He was on the verge of a stroke, but got good care and is OK. He REALLY needs to lose weight and get his health under control.
So how was your weekend?
Connie
You know Connie sometimes you just need girlfriend talk time.
My weekend was uneventful. Its the first one in a few weeks that I've not had to rush to New Hampshire (im in CT) cause mom is doing very good! She had a pace maker put in 2 weeks ago and the change is remarkable. Hell its miraculous! So I was able to do my part to keep gas use down.
I did some cleaning went to the dump and then went with my Man to his grandsons 11th birthday party. I like his famiiy they are nice. His ex wife was there with her 3rd husband. She is a very pretty woman ad does not look her age at all. I thought she was much younger than she is the first time I met her. Thats when I found out she's had alot of plastic surgery to make that skin look so youthful. Along with the 20 year old tatas on her 50ish frame. The 3rd hubby likes a beautiful woman on his arm and has the money to support the surgerys. It was teh first time I got a look at him. Apparently he doesn't feel the need to support plastic surgery on himself. Why I dont' nkow cause he could use a few thousand dollars worth of work. but hey tahts their issue not mine.
There was cake I had 1/2 a small piece ate the cake part scraped the frosting off cause frosting is way to sweet for my tastes now. Hey theres something that I never all those years ago given up on! I would scrape the frosting off everyone else cake and eat it. Now if its too sweet it makes me want to gag!
Sunday was spent with my youngest son (28) whos' girlfreind broke up with him WEdnesday. I worry about him but he's doing much much better than I thought he would.
BUT Last Night afgter work I did the MOST amazing thing! I got up off my butt and walked 2 miles!!!!! I've not gotten out and exceriszed without there being a sale to go to in many months. It felt good. I plan on doing it again tonight.
Poor Maisey. Give her a kiss from her Aunt Reenie. Hope you're feeling better. With Devin at a sleepover Friday night, Jim and I got up and walked together, a 3-mile hike, on the railtrail over the Mansfield Hollow Dam. It was a beautiful morning. We then stopped at a diner for a leisurely breakfast. It was nice to be out of Devin Bondage for a few hours. Jim and I still haven't touched sexually or intimately in well over a year, which is really devestating to me, but the companionship was welcomed. I then spent the afternoon with my horse, Laela, we had a remarkable ride together and she let me hook her up on the crossties in the wash stall and hose her down - a major accomplishment. She is still so much of a babyhead and fearful of everything - so the fact that she trusted me to do this was a real step forward. Later, Devin came home and it was back to the routine - lies centered around feeding his obsession and compulsion for computer time. I really believe modern technology is ruining the minds of our kids. They simply cannot exist anymore without being hooked up to something that otherwise totally disconnects them from interpersonal human interaction; and it's absolutely addictive. If Devin doesn't get his "fix" he is every bit the addict who will stop at nothing to feed his addiction. Have a good week, all. Maureen
Let me see if I can remember what we did.... On Friday night, we were up till midnight pickling squash and cabbage. Alton and I worked together doing this...we also made chow chow. I had gone with a friend to Albany for her to go to the Dr and we hit a veggie stand and I got a case of yellow squash and some green tomatoes. On Sat I helped the local library move their used books to another store front. Then I came home and Alton and I cleaned house as we had 9 people over for a fish fry. It was such a beautiful evening we set up for Alton to fry the fish outside. We had 2 swings set up for 4 people to sit in and others in camp chairs while the fish and hush puppies were frying. I also made slaw, baked beans and potato salad. Dessert was brownies. Now...I can hear you now..that does not sound like a healthy meal for someone who needs to watch their carb and sugar intake. You are probably right, but I never can eat but a little. The grease smell gets to me...that is one reason we cooked them outside.
On Sunday, we went to church and out to eat at the state lodge buffet. It was a great meal and we took a nap Sunday afternoon and back to church that evening.
Oh yeah, Alton and I sang a duet at church on Sunday morning...
It is good to have friends that we can be around and feel good about being with them.
Alton went fishing last night and caught more catfish so we are trying to plan a fish fry while we are in Tn the end of the week for his grandaughter's graduation.
Friday Dan took the day off work and we drove an hour to our grandson's kindergarden graduation program. It was cute--120 kindrgardeners in his school! Then we took him to eat Mexican food for lunch and would have gone to see Prince Caspian, but there was not a matinee (small town, Arkansas!). So we played Wii and napped. Saturday, my girlfriends from church hosted a going away luncheon for my 3 friends and me who are going to Rio de Janeiro BRAZIL to spend some time doing English Bible studies with people who want to practice English, using the gospel of Luke as a conversation point. Thirty five women came to the lunch and we had a great time. This week, I am trying to pack lots of stuff for our trip. The airlines make it challenging--50 lb limit per suitcase!
We leave Saturday. I will be gone for 5 weeks, returning June 30. Dan is whining, but he will be OK. This trip is a dream come true for me--traveling, meeting new friends, and making a difference. I'll miss you guys, but will check in with a report when I return.

Ok this weekend....lets see.....Friday night was our usual dinner at our favorite watering hole by the beach. I had a salad and it was pretty good...and a glass or 2 of wine. Wine is my weekend treat.
Lindsey and I drove to South Jersey for a bridal shower. I've been in shower/wedding hell for the past couple of months. They served a cup of soup and a chicken caesar salad, which was perfect for me. It was my cousin's son's fiance's shower, and it was not my family giving the shower. My mother was horrified that there were no other courses to the meal. Usually, it's a million appetizers, soup, salad, pasta, THEN the main course. The soup and salad was just fine for me....of course I had a couple of cookies but did not eat the cake, and no wine since I was driving. My aunts were remarking how I "kept myself nice". They were talking about how people have WLS and gain it all back but I kept my weight off. Rather uncomfortable conversation, since the brides mother had WLS and did gain it all back....which explains how I got stuck taking the pictures.
My man was waiting for us to get home because he wanted to go to his favorite Dominican restaurnant for dinner. I ordered an appetizer, took it home, and ate it for 2 more days. I love this little place because it always reminds me of vacation, which puts me in a good mood. We came home and watched Sweeny Todd...great movie.
Sunday....AGAIN....we go out to eat breakfast. Lindsey had to go to work, and Ray and I went to the market. And we spackled the porch ceiling. We went for a walk and hung out with the neighbors for a while. We are trying to decide what colors to paint our house, so we drove around. We live in a quaint little victorian town by the sea, and there are no 2 houses alike. We have some ideas, talked to the painter, and talked to the carpenter to have some shingle work done. Sat on the porch and read the paper. I made chicken for dinner, cleaned up and went to bed.
Yes....I know....it's boring. But I'm happy. Life....is GOOD!
