Update
Hi everyone, wanted to check in - how are you all doing? We're getting kind of quiet, let's get some juices flowing here...I started solid foods today. Had a scrambled egg this a.m. and tolerated it very well, felt very little - if any - restriction. I ate it slowly and in very small pieces and will plan to do this for the long haul. It was SOOOO GOOD! My daughter is home from college for a week and she surprised me by whipping up a batch of homemade cauliflower soup for me to take to work today - so I will sip on that, as well as have about 2 oz. tuna (moistened with LF mayo). For dinner, I will have some sort of cup of soup as I'm due at the hospital for a SG meeting. My weight loss has been stalled for the past 4 days - ah, remember those plateaus??? I'm down 14 lbs. sinc 4/14, holding steady at 144. My goal is 132-135, where I want to stay as long as possible. The best part of all of this is I really feel and look healthier than I have since I had the 2004 surgery, so I think this surgery has really helped with the malabsorption issue. My skin looks better - someone even said to me (who didn't know I had the endoscopic surgery) that I looked refreshed and not so tired looking as I have been. That's my news - what's yours? Love, Maureen
Hi Reenie,
I am so excited for you and so interested in keeping track of your progress! I have been telling other WLS friends of mine about your procedure and we are all watching with great interest! Have you had any labs done since the surgery to monitor the malabsorption or rather, reabsorption? You are so brave and set such an example for us all.
I say a prayer for you often and know that God is watching over you and all of us as we progress through our recoveries together.
Hugs,
Karen
Ah, Karen, so good to hear from you! And your prayers are very welcomed, thank you! I won't get new labs done for about 4 more weeks but I can just tell I'm in better health - more energy, but mostly my skin and hair look so much better. By the way, my daughter's cauliflower soup was FABULOUS for lunch, wow! That, plust about 2-3 oz. of tuna and I felt nicely satisfied. It's amazing the calming effects generated by taking control and taking good care of ourselves! I will for sure keep you posted - there ARE things we can do, everyone, to safeguard our success! Don't struggle alone and don't struggle in vain. Remember, the definition of insanity is: doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting different results...we must DO different to LIVE differently. Be well, my dear friends - and thanks again, Karen! Maureen
Hey Maureen
Glad you are doing so well. As soon as I can get out of this
financial whole & can afford a trip to the phoenix area I plan
to check out a couple of the RNY surgeons that do revision type things. (see connie at the same time) There is no one
in Kingman that know much about RNY patients. I can't even get
a scope done here to find out what is working & what is not.
You sound so much better even in your writing so keep up
the good work & keep us updated when you can.
BTW I am doing O.K. still trying to figure t what happened
with me ( the positive reading) Doc's dont have a clue.
Billy & I are talking, but, have a ways to go before
or if we can get past this one. My grazing is out of control,
with the stress & trying to deal with a hour or day at a time
getting past that part. MEN SUCK (enough said) or at least most of them.
