All is Well...
Thanks so much for your good wishes, my friends. The surgery went very well and what I want to say right away is that if the bariatric industry moves in the direction of being able to do gastric bypass surgeries endoscopically, the healing time will be so much easier. My surgeon tells me it was very successful and that my stoma is now "tiny" - it's so weird doing this Stages diet again, very deja vu. I have not had solid food since Monday, Tuesday was spent cleaning out the bowls in prep of the surgery on Wednesday and let me tell ya, I don't relish the thought of having to do that again! I'm now on a liquid diet for two weeks and then start the mushy food stage. I do feel the restriction but otherwise I feel great, the internal discomfort has all but gone away, I walked two miles yesterday and will ride Laela today. My only concern (and please don't get mad at me) is that I am losing too fast and/or will lose too much weight. I'm already down 10 lbs - was 158 on Monday, and this morning I weighed 148 - it feels so good to be back in the 140s! But two weeks of liquids and then 4 weeks of mushy protein, it makes me wonder how to do this as healthily as possible. And, man, I remember the constipation problems 4 years ago - omg, I don't want to go through with that again! Anyway, I'm happy I did this and hope it will totally solve the malabsorption problems, and get me to the weight that I know I will be happy with. Thanks again for your good thoughts, I've missed you all very much. Love, Maureen
Glad to hear you're doing well.....maybe you can ask him if you can take a stool softener or something? I would LOVE to not be able to eat for a bit...just to lose 10 pounds...that's all I really need....but it's a killer!
Thought of you a lot this weekend as we went to Boston....
Take care and be well!
Joanie
