I don't know how I respond to this - I see a desperate woman trying to convey that she is happy in her quest to stay healthy, despite significant regain. I hear a woman who is obsessing about food (e.g., "When I'm on the treadmill I'm thinking about lunch." And "Enjoy the donut I wish I could have...then cram it!") Is this our destiny? And what about the post-operative raminfications of our new anatomy? I'm reading an awful lot about complications necessitating new surgeries. What are you digging up out there? Where are you at with all of this? http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=4534893 And Joy...where are you? Maureen

I watched this piece of video with great interest. First of all, she admits falling off the wagon. She clearly says she did not follow the rules. However, reading other articles about her addictive personality, I also see an addict making excuses for her weight gain and almost defending it by her 'thin people can be unhealthy, heavy people can be healthy' statement. Of course, the statement can be true in some instances, but I think she is bringing it over the top and using it as an excuse. All in all, I think it's good that we keep track of what is going on with her. We can all use it as yet another learning tool for us as far as behavior is concerned. I do feel she is obsessing about food, because she is an addict. I also feel she should be in some sort of eating disorder therapy or maybe even OA or both. As far as her thinking about lunch when she is on the treadmill, I almost think that is normal for all people. We live in a society where people are always thinking about when and where the next meal is. It also can be used in a positive way as far as meal planning is concerned. As for the donut comment? Well...there's no reason to be mean about it. To me, it expresses her frustration with her situation. I guess the bottom line is, she, like the rest of us, know what we are supposed to be doing. And there are times when that is very difficult to do. I think there is a message there and we can all learn from her. Joanie
