Yeehaw!

Finally, finally, finally... five pounds gone this week. I've been really good about sticking to a low carb diet that didn't feel like torture and I'm not countin' nuthin. Not counting calories, points, carbs, nuthin. I've had lots and lots of protein every day with a few low carb vegetables like squash, mushrooms and aspragus thrown in. My snack of choice has been pork rinds. We ordered pizza last night and that was easy because I just ate the toppings. Went to a couple of buffets at the casino and just ate the main entrees. My one goof up was eating some fruit one day that was a little high in sugar. We're doing a short cruise in a couple of weeks and I think I should be able to stick with this on the cruise. Hugs, Connie

Boy, did I ever need to hear you're doing better and feeling better! You've inspired me - I simply must NOT eat M&M's today...you all have no idea the trouble I've been in with this crap (notice I said the trouble I've BEEN IN - am trying to couch this in the PAST tense!!!). I too am concentrating on getting the carbs out of my eating. Today, my goal is to just eat what I mapped out for myself today and NO CRAP CANDY. I just need to feel better about myself, I'm tired of feeling lousy. Thanks for the rally cheer, Connie. Oh and I need to share my newest exercise craze - Devin (my 14 year old 6'2", 200 lb. son) and I are jumproping together every night. He's up to 175 jumps without missing - the best I've don so far is 102. It's a lot of fun, and especially doing this together. KEEP MOVING YOUR HEINIES!!! Love, Reenie

Hey Girl! That's good news, the low carb thing. I know that it's filling and satisfying, however, are you getting fiber in? I would like to try this, but I do have some major poopage issues. We just came back from an all inclusive in the Dominican Republic, and I couldn't resist the fruit....it was just so good. I ate carrots and grapefruit every day...gained a few pounds...and lost them upon return. But I still want to lose 10 more pounds. Maybe I'll try the low carb thing and take my colace every day and see how it works. Thanks for the update! Joanie

Hey Joanie! I too usually have poopage issues. I figured I couldn't be any more full of it that I already was so why not go ahead and go the low carb route. Actually, I've been pretty good for a while because hot coffee seems to move things along. Yeah, yeah, I know... coffee bad. Evil, bad caffiene. On days that coffee doesn't do the trick, I make use of a glycerine suppository. Eeeewwww! I've found that the more I poop, the easier it gets and the less I need assistive devices. Practice, practice, practice. Hugs, Connie

Oh, I drink coffee too...but only in the morning and I've seemed to have lost the taste for it somehow. I really think it's hormonal (at my age, I think EVERYTHING is hormonal). My surgeon told me, in addition to drinking my water, I can take 3 Colace a day (100 mgs per pill), as it is a stool softener and not a laxative. Low and behold, it works. It's the ONLY thing that ever worked on me. Needless to say, I'm thrilled. Craving for the week: marinated garlic cloves and green olives. Ray wants me to take a pregnancy test. Love, Joanie

Little late in reply, but, good for you & hope you are still going. Just got the internet back on. I am here in Kingman & things are O.K. Still stressed as I did not start work till today actually. I am broke, little to eat, so the weight is coming off of me, too. I don't know how much I have lost, but quite a bit as the clothes fit much better. Take care & I catch everybody up soon. Ok, girlie--- Once you settle in and decide you're going to stay in one place, I am sure you'll be fine. Above all, take good care of yourself.....that's the most important thing! Joanie
