Need Advice From The Low Carbers
In spite of being dog sick, on meds that cause weight gain and a crazy work and home schedule, I'm still hanging in here and haven't given up on shedding some pounds. I've been on an extreme low carb plan the last couple of days and I feel like crap - headache, sluggish, feeling bloated. How long does it take to detox from carbs and does anyone have any advice for getting through this without giving up? I now remember why I never lasted on the Atkins diet, but don't want to quit.

Connie -
Man girl, I have been gone so long I don't know what is going on anymore. I need to do some reading, obviously.
Okay, on Atkins, the fog and that feeling of being hit by a truck should leave before a week is up. It usually lasted 4 days for me. Then I was a little tired after that and suddenly got a burst of energy in the 2nd week.
I'm about ready to join you soon though. I normally hovered around 185, pushed and dropped to 175 by my 3rd anniversary but am back up to 195 now. Too much wine lately I think has done me in.
Dina,
I was thinking about you when I wrote my post. I know that you have been the low carb queen and knew you'd have an answer for me. I'm so glad to see you here.
I was starting to feel the truck pulling out of the parking lot after it backed over me a few times. I had a slight setback tonight and it was stupid on my part. I've been right on track and starting to feel the cloud lift. Tonight The Man won a fairly hefty chunk of change at the casino and asked me to drive over and join him for dinner at the buffet. I'm not a fan of buffets, but the casino buffet is full of good choices and the casino was paying so what the heck. I did really well with a slice of beef, some cheese and some mushrooms and then went back for some cottage cheese. I'll be damned if a half of a peach and a slice of honeydew didn't jump on my plate with the cottage cheese. Now I'm back in the fog. Argghhhh! Stupid, stupid, stupid.
OK, back on track for me and I'm glad to see you.
