End of Day One - Part Deux

After I posted here last night, I took my meds and went to sleep. I take enough meds for my back to knock out a horse and a sleeping pill to boot. Vicodin, Gabapentin and Lunesta for sleep. This morning I woke up and found an empty cracker bag on my night stand. Let me tell you how scarey this is. I didn't know there were any crackers left in the house so not sure where these came from. I have no knowledge whatsoever of getting up or eating these damned crackers. I have no idea how many I ate. Is this the first time I've done this? What else do I do in my sleep? Anybody else have experience with this? Anybody have some advise? Hugs, C.

Connie, get off Lunesta! These line of sleep aids (Ambien, Lunesta, etc.) have side effects that include amnesia. People have been known to sleep walk outside of their homes and have no recollection of doing so. Eating in the middle of the night and not remembering anything about it has been reported by thousands of people. When I was on Ambien, friends and family would remind me about something I did - or conversations we had together -- including meetings at my workplace! -- that I had absolutely no memory of! Get off that crap, it's poison, no matter how "safe" the drug companies profess this stuff is. And it doesn't produce any real feelings of rest, no matter how many hours of "sleep" we think we've gotten. Please stop taking Lunesta! Hugs, Reenie

Reenie, How did you get sleep after going off Ambien? On the nights that I don't take the Lunesta, I lay and stare at the ceiling until 4 or 5 in the morning. I just can't sleep. I'm more than willing to give it up as I only take it when I have to be concious the next day for work now. Any suggestions for getting sleep off of the sleep aids? OK, I'm off the Lunesta so don't be surprised if you see posts from me in the wee hours of the morning. Insomnia is a wonderful servant and a terrible master. Love ya huge, Connie

My doctor put me on a low dosage of a medication (can't remember the name of it, will email you when I get home) - this little gem lets me fall gently to sleep and I sleep well for about 4 hours. I still wake up in the middle of the night but I am much more able to get myself back to sleep. Marilyn is dead-on about the Melatonin - it works very well, but try to find it in the 5 mg. dosage. It's a natural herb and works really, really well when you use it together with a cup of camomile tea (decaf, of course!) - sleep well, darlin' - love, Reenie

Connie While you wien yourself off of the lunesta, take melatonin It's a natuaral thing that helps with the sleep issues & no side effects. You might need to take 2 of them to start off with as they are only 3 mg. You can get them at any drug store I get mine at Trader Joes, But Rite aid & any other drug store should have them as well. They should give you at least 4 or 5 hrs sleep without too much trouble. Ladybug Marilyn
