Shrinking Pouch?
After my last surgery two weeks ago, I was on a soft diet for a couple of days. After that, I made sure that I ate very small amounts for 4 or 5 days because the last thing I wanted to do was hurl and blow some stitches. It hurt to laugh, sneeze or cough so the thought of wrenching my guts was enough to make me behave food-wise. I really do think this shrunk my pouch. I'm not eating as much as I was 3 weeks ago and I'm full much sooner. Yesterday we went to lunch (on the way to my check up with the surgeon) at Pei Wei and I ordered lettuce wraps. Just chicken and stuff chopped finely and you roll it up in a lettuce leaf. I ate one lettuce leaf wrap and was done. I'm talking about less than 1/4 cup of filling. I honestly think I would have embarrassed myself all over the table if I had tried to take another bite. I can't finish a Lean Cuisine these days and Easter dinner was more of an Easter nibble.
After the last two weeks, I'm convinced that the pouch does shrink if we can limit our intake of food for a few days. The problem is limiting the food for those few days. Here's my plan... I know that after a while, I'll gradually eat more and more and stretch the pouch back to where it was on April 3rd, the day before surgery. I'm good about following plans IF I MAKE THEM so I'm going to make up a menu for several days of limited eating and a grocery list ahead of time, print it out and put it in an envelope. When I start eating too much at a sitting, off I go to the store to start "Operation Shrink."
Anyone have any ideas, suggestions or helpful hints to add to the plan?
