Forgive Me

Better to ask for forgiveness then permission. Here is the deal, I'm riding in the Tour De Cure on 6/17/06. I have formed a team, and we will ride along the beautiful Missouri River in the Wolf Creek Canyon for 40 miles. In order to reach our fundraising goal, I need to get this out to as many people as possible. So forgive me for using this forum to drum up support for me and my team. The cause is the American Diabetes Association, and as two of my family members have type II diabetes, I want to do what I can to help cure thing. If you can't help or have others to support I understand, but your consideration is appreciated and your good vibes going out my way on the 17th will be welcomed too. Attached is the link to my page. I won't make this a habit. http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR?pg=personal&fr_id=3380&px=2816624

Okay - second time's a charm. Doggone internet explorer crashed on me! Don't ask forgiveness...there's none to give. This is as close as one can get to championing a cause that is so closely related to why we're here in the first place. Besides, we're family here. We should be able to share what is close to our hearts, doncha think? Dina

Well, being a guy and all, it makes me a bit uncomfortable to think of you all as family because of some to the indecent thoughts that have crossed my mind on occasion. That being said, I guess I'm Uncle Pervie.

I agree Forgiveness is not necessary in this case. You are amazing & the fact that without this surgery, you would probably not be able to ride in this, says a lot. Have a Good ride, when it comes!! Marilyn, the Bearlady

Oh, it is very true that prior to surgery I would not have considered a 40 mile ride. I remember in my efforts to lose weight prior to WLS that I was happy with a five mile ride. Oh how things have changed. I rode this path last year as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run and it is beautiful. It has a nice mix of hills and straight aways. I getting a road bike as last year I rode my mountain bike and the route is much more condusive to a road bike. It should be fun, and I hope that I and my team will raise a bunch of money.

Sadly, Uncle Pervie was always my favorite uncle. ;o) I'm w/ Dina - if you can't champion your cause with us, who can you hit up? My neighbor is doing a walk/run thing and she'**** me up for a donation. With my current situation, I can only spare so much before I become my own charity!! Good luck to you on the ride. I'm very proud of you, you Perv! ;o) -W-

Well come on over and sit on your Uncle's lap then!! Thanks for the kind thoughts, fundraising is about the law of large numbers, the more you ask, the more you get. I know the feeling as I'm constantly asking and being asked, so I understand you need to limit your donations. But, I'll use all of the positive energy I can get on the 17th of June. I know I can make it, but two of my team members are pretty competitive so the speeds will be up there. Should be fun.
