One month

Last month at this time I was on the table, getting cut in half, well almost. Anyway, things are going well. I canceled my four week appointment as my remaining drain is still pulling about 100cc of fluid a day and my staples are fine. They will pull the drain and some staples next Monday. My energy level is probably 85%, and might even be higher if I hadn't caught the first cold I have had in two years. All and all, just like with WLS, you soon forget the bad parts as the good is better then the bad. Thanks for all of your thoughts. Now it is your turn Connie!

Ken, Wow! Four weeks already? I'm so glad you're doing well and hope I do as well. I'm trying to prep for this. Tonight I bought an Easy Shaper to work out at home when I can't make it to the gym in the next couple of weeks. It'll collect dust after a while, but I figure I can stay interested in it for at least the next few weeks until surgery. I've also upped my protein and am really focusing on getting in twice as much as normal. Did you know that pork rinds reconstitute themselves into a full grown sow in your pouch if you drink water after eating them? The next few weeks are going to be a bit of a flurry. I need to finally hook up the TV/Surround Sound/cable, etc. I watch so little TV that the one in the living room has been non-operational for quite a while. I need to make sure that I don't get bored so I'm stocked up on books, puzzles and people to entertain me. I discovered that Wal-Mart sells sugar-free Twizzlers. I will never go to Wal-Mart again. I convinced myself that eating just one Twizzler would kill me with the sugar content. It won't, but I'm gullible and believed my own lie. Turns out that the sugar-free guys are just as tasty as the regular ones. I must never set foot near these things again. OK, I'm babbling and making no sense and I'm not even on drugs. Glad you're doing well and be sure to share any tips and tricks for getting through this next surgery without too much fuss and muss. Connie

Connie, You'll want to check with your Dr. on working out. I have been told all I can do for six weeks is walk. My Dr. knows I have become a gym rat, and while I tried to explain that I could use machines that isolate just my arms, I was told all I could do was walk, nothing else. The recovery process sucks, as you get bored. I never really knew before but I now know that there is about 75 channels of crap on TV. But I can tell you, the one day I over did it, I paid the next day big time. One of the few days I was almost reduced to tears, so pace yourself. I found a recliner was the best option for me. Being in bed, even with pillows under my head left me to uncomfortable, and the recliner worked well. I slept in it for the first three weeks, and had my best night of sleep in a month last night. I haven't been sleeping all that well. I do think a big part of recovery is your mind. Believe you will recover quickly, and you will. Just like with WLS, people are amazed to hear that I returned to work after one week. I should have taken two, but I'm past that point now. Best of luck, and feel free to call or write with any questions.

Connie step away from the sugar free twizzlers NOW! I too was once addicted to twizzlers and when I found the walmart sugar free ones I thought WOW this is great. They are loaded with sugar alcohol something that blows me up like a hoppy toad. The pain Oh the pain! I'm sure it wasn't as bad was the dawgs! glad to hear your doing good with your surgery dawg!

Hi Ken - yes, it is hard to believe so much time has already elapsed since our LBL surgeries. I'm very glad you're doing so well; I'm still struggling with regaining my normal level of energy but all in all, I'm healing. Keep us posted! Have you started working out yet? Maureen
