What did you eat today??
Hey gang,
Just wondering, since we're all at or almost at 2 years out...what would you say is a normal days food intake? I'd like to see what ya'll are doing compared to mine.
Pre-breakfast
Protein drink
Breakfast
Mini-bagel with Cream Cheese
Lunch
1/2 tuna salad sandwich or 1/2 a beef quesadilla
Snack
1/4 c. high fiber cereal
Dinner
A little of whatever I fix for the family. I still eat on a little plate with my little fork. 1/4 of a normal serving of main course, a spoonful of whatever sides and a bite or two of multi-grain or whole wheat bread.
Snack
Protein drink
1/4 c. high fiber cereal
Throughout the day I'm drinking either Green Tea or Lemonade sweetened with splenda. I also do have a glass of orange juice every morning.
Everyones input is appreciated.
Happy thoughts,
Va

Va,
I cannot for the life of me remember what I had for breakfast. Grabbed a salad with grilled chicken for lunch. Dinner was a fast food burger without the bun. Oh yeah, breakfast was a Lean Cuisine something or other. Somewhere along the way I had a few sugar free gummi fruits. I'm going to have some cantalope and head for bed.
This wasn't a normal day. I usually break my food into 6 mini meals. This was one of my more hectic days so the only time I actually sat down and ate was the salad that was eaten at my desk while I was meeting with staff.

Yesterday:
7am -- protein shake with 1/4 C. soy milk, 2 strawberries and 1 tsp. Metamucil
10am -- 12 grapes and a cheese stick
Lunch (noon) -- chef salad
3pm -- 12 grapes and a cheese stick
Didn't do a normal dinner - instead snacked on low-fat trisuit crackers with peanut butter. Then I had a lite english muffin with peanut butter and sugar-free jelly
Lots of water throughout the day (easier to do on a work day; have a harder time of it at home)
Dinner is tough because we are so busy and so exhausted when we get home, we don't really cook - we just do frozen pizza and try to make it healthy, throw some broccoli on the pizza or throw together a salad.
Looking forward to seeing what others are doing. Va, I'm not sure you're eating enough? Have you calculated your calorie intake?
I'm still suffering from bowel problems, so would really like to learn how people are getting in the necessary fiber without compromising the amount of protein we need daily. This continues to be a real dilemma for me - I have to take Metamucil and colace every day just to keep things moving. What about you guys? Maureen

This is really sad because it's hard for me to remember what I have in a day. Some days it's nearly nothing and other days it feels like I want to eat all day long...meals, not snacks!!!
Last night I think I ate dried mango all night long. I also had a package of cheese crackers. All that and coffee. Pretty bad, I know. I'm not much of a prepared person though - this is part of why I ended up so fat in the first place. I never was good at "doing" meals.
The good part of that is that when I do have nights like that I generally am not eating a whole lot and end up losing, but I realize it's not the best thing to do.
On an average day I can eat larger portions than most - as I have from the start. One night at work I was able to eat 2/3rd's of a grilled chicken breast 6" sub from Subway. If it was a veggie sub I would have been able to poli**** off. I will usually have something like a packaged dinner at work and not much at home during my work week. But weekends get me. Either I find myself constantly hungry eating too much or I will do stupid crap like eat cheese crackers 3x a day.
I have actually thought of doing Nutrisystem with a friend from work just because everything is laid out for you. I'm not good at following through though, so I suspect there would be a lot of food left over because I find it hard to force myself to eat dinner when I'm not hungry. That would then be defeating the whole purpose.
I think I need another surgery....a brain transplant....
