My Anniversary Post

WOW!! It's been two years today. I had lost down to a baggy size 4 at 124 pounds. I'm back up between 134 to 137 depending on the day. Which makes my size 4's fit better and folks don't automatically ask me if I'm sick. At 124 I was looking pretty skeletal and my skin was seriously loose and wrinkled. Anemia continues to be a problem and I take supplements daily. I still have the lung problems from my surgery two years ago, it makes every breath I take painful. My scoliosis and sciatica are much better since my abdominoplasty a year ago last month. I had a "butt lift" June of last year. (there was not really much back there to lift, just 4 folds of extra skin). I know WTMI!! I keloid real bad, so now I have an almost one inch thick scar, both in height and in depth, that circles my lower torso. My knee replacement surgery is still on indefinite hold...it's pretty much a non-issue since I've dropped the weight!! Body image is still a problem ... I'm guessing I'll always be a fat chick in my head. I dug out my "fat" jeans today, size 26's, and held them up to me for comparison...someday I hope I'm able to equalize what I see with what I think. My pouch, TAZ!, still rules my world...but we currently have a peace treaty in affect and he's been happy of late. TTFN Happy thoughts! Va

Va, I'm running out the door and will post more thoughtfully in response later but needed to ask you: what is keloid? What does this mean? You look beautiful! Sorry for your problems but you sound like you're dealing well with everything. We're so fortunate to have you. Maureen

Maureen, Keloids are extra heavy duty scars. Here's a link to some info if your interested. http://www.medicinenet.com/keloid/article.htm Since I'm so fair my scars are purplelish in color, they feel hard and slightly feverish. They burn and itch like crazy, I'm sometimes tempted to take a hairbrush to them...I don't but it's tempting. My scars from the RNY have just in the last month or so finally calmed down and are fading. The ones from the TT and Butt lift are wretched!! Even though I could have a probably 4 or 5 pounds taken off my legs and a pound or two off my arms...I will NEVER have it done. I knew I'd Keloid before I had the TT and the butt lift, I never imagined it would be as bad as it is. These have gone wild!! Did that explain it? Clear as mud? Va

Thanks, Va, this helps a lot. I am so sorry for your troubles and hope that this gets better for you. Even without the keloids, the scarring from LBL and arms is significant. I truly hope this improves - you look marvelous and you have been such a source of inspiration and support for me for these past two years. Take care. Maureen

Virginia, So glad to hear from you. I'm glad your knees are behaving. Isn't it intersting that the things which have turned out to be issues were not on the horizon 2 years ago, and the things which we worried about have become trivial? You are looking great! Congratulations! May you be blessed your third year... Joy
